Amazon Prime Day Shopping Statistics 2021

An estimated 830,768 Irish adults plan to shop during the Amazon Prime Day sales.

22% of Irish adults – an estimated 830,768 people – plan to shop during Amazon Prime Day 2021, according to Finder’s Amazon Prime Day shopping report. We polled a convenience sample of 1,205 people to find out what they plan to buy.

More than half of those planning to shop during Prime Day 2021 will buy an Amazon product or service

13% of Irish people say they plan on buying an Amazon product, such as a Kindle or an Echo, or an Amazon service like Amazon Prime. 10% of Irish people say they’ll buy a tech product and 4% say they’ll buy a service, with 1% of people planning on buying both.

The remaining 9% aren’t planning on making any Amazon-specific purchases. Spending in other categories is evenly split across consumer tech, clothing, accessories and makeup, and products for the home, with 4% of people spending in each category.

More women plan to shop on Amazon Prime Day

26% of women plan to shop on Amazon Prime Day, compared to 22% of men. Women are more likely to buy products across all categories, with the exception of consumer tech. The biggest difference in spending can be seen in clothing, accessories and makeup, with women outbuying men by 4 percentage points.

Those aged 45-54 plan to shop the most Amazon tech

Those aged 65+ are the most likely to shop during Prime Day (26%), followed closely by those aged 18-24 (25%), 35-44 and 45-54 (both 24%). However, middle-aged Irish people are much more likely to purchase Amazon tech products, with 13% of those aged 45-54 saying they intend to make an Amazon tech purchase.
