What does Fuelman consider a high-risk account?

Fuelman will evaluate your account based on your payment history and credit score. It may see your account as high-risk if:

  • You have a commercial credit score below 530.
  • You have a personal credit score below 670.
  • Your credit score has a 51-point drop or more within a three-month rolling period.
  • You’ve received more than one late fee within a 12-month rolling period.
  • You’re 30 or more days late on your payments within a 12-month rolling period.
  • Your bank doesn’t honor your payment.
  • A security deposit may be required.
Fuelman may ask you to put down a security deposit — or what it calls a Reserve Amount — if your account is deemed high risk. If so, this will be up to 80% of your credit line. Fuelman may draw from this deposit if you fail to pay your card bill.
  • You won’t earn fuel rebates on all purchases.
Aviation purchases, bulk or international fuel and spending at non-qualifying locations are ineligible for rebates. You also won’t receive rebates at The Convenience Network brands such as Arco, Loves, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Chevron/Texaco and Sinclair.

Lastly, you won’t be able to earn rebates if your account has violated payment terms in the card’s terms and conditions.

Expert review

The Fuelman Advantage Fleet Card, issued by Fuelman, is for fleet managers who want to save at retail fuel locations. While it offers competitive discounts and rebates, it’s weighed down by high fees. These include a minimum program administration fee of up to 10 cents per gallon or $2 per transaction, as well as a monthly card fee of up to $10 per card. Such costs and other fees can easily wipe out your rebates.

In light of the fees, the standout features of the card may be its versatility and monitoring tools for fleet managers. You can use the card at thousands of locations, including fuel and maintenance brands. And with purchase controls and detailed reporting, you can cut down on wasted spend and create more precise budgets.
