Get control of your business’s finances with First Premier Bank Business Rewards Mastercard®. You can set employee spending limits to help you manage business spending. Perks like no annual fee and flat cash back on all purchases makes this card an easy choice. However, it’s tricky to find the APRs and terms on its site — you may need to call or apply to find out how much this card costs.

How to apply for the First Premier Bank Business Rewards Mastercard®

  1. Visit the First Premier Bank website.
  2. Click Contact us to view a list of business banking representatives.
  3. Call one of the officers on the business banking page.

How long will it take to get my First Premier Bank Business Rewards Mastercard®?

First Premier Bank doesn’t specify when you might receive a decision. However, most providers let you know about your application within 14 business days. After approval, you’ll typically receive your card in the mail with the decision.

The perks

  • Annual fee: None.

When expenses are tight, it’s nice to know you won’t pay an annual fee for your business card.

  • Rewards: 1% cash back on all purchases.

Flat cash back keeps things simple and saves you from tiered rewards that can be confusing. However, 1% cash back is a low rate among business cards. For a no-annual-fee card, aim for at least 1.5% cash back on all purchases.

You’ll also like

  • Set purchase limits for authorized users.

This helps you keep track of spending on employee cards.

  • Mastercard benefits.

Enjoy Purchase Assurance, which covers your eligible items against damage or theft within 90 days of purchase.

Your Mastercard can also help while you’re on vacation or a business trip. You’ll receive rental car insurance when you pay for your reservation with your card. And you can access Global Service, which replaces your card if you’ve lost it and gives you emergency cash advances.

What to watch out for

  • Terms not available upfront.

First Premier Bank doesn’t offer the terms and conditions for the First Premier Bank Business Rewards Mastercard® on its card page. You’ll receive them after you’re approved for the product. If you have questions about the card, call a representative at 800-987-5521.

  • No signup bonus.

Many providers offer an initial sweetener to get you to sign up for their cards. You won’t find one with the First Premier Bank Business Rewards Mastercard®.

What size business is the First Premier Bank Business Rewards Mastercard® good for?

The First Premier Bank Business Rewards Mastercard® is probably best for a small business on a tight budget. It offers simple benefits like 1% cash back on all purchases, which is sweet when you don’t pay an annual fee.

If you run a larger business with more expenses, you might get more out of an annual-fee rewards card. This type of product can often generate more cash back, points or miles to offset your annual fee many times over.

The Capital One® Spark® Cash for Business, for example, has a $95 annual fee starting the second year. But it offers an enticing signup bonus: A $50,000 cash bonus after you spend $4,500 on purchases within the first 3 months.

On top of that, you’ll earn 2% cash back on all purchases. That means you’ll earn enough cash back to offset the $95 annual fee after spending $4,750.

What should I know before I apply?

To apply for the First Premier Bank Business Rewards Mastercard®, you must be at least 18 years old. You also need to prove you operate a small business.

First Premier Bank doesn’t accept applications online. If you’re ready to apply for the card, contact a business banker to get started.

  • Your contact details and business address.
  • Details about your business, such as its annual revenue, years in business and employee count.
  • Personal details such as your home address, mother’s maiden name and Social Security number.

What credit score do I need?

You’ll have a better chance of approval for this card if you have good to excellent credit of 670 or higher. A history of healthy spending habits and steady profits can also help your business be approved.

First Premier Bank Business Rewards Mastercard® reviews and complaints

First Premier Bank has been accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) since 2007. As of October 2020, it has an A+ rating from the agency and no customer complaints. Among its 20-plus customer reviews, however, there are many one- and two-star ratings. Unhappy customers say it’s difficult to close accounts, they’ve unexpectedly had accounts frozen and the bank charges steep fees. First Premier Bank has responded to most of the reviews, upholding it’s A+ rating.

I got the card. Now what?

  • Use online banking.

Register an account at the First Premier Bank website. There, you can view your account details, set employee spending limits and pay your bill.

  • Check your terms.

First Premier Bank sends you the terms and conditions when it mails your card. Read them carefully to see your purchase, balance transfer and cash advance APR or any fees you might pay.

  • Avoid fees.

Like with most personal credit cards, you may be assessed fees for late, returned and overlimit transactions. Typically, you’ll be charged up to $37 per infraction.

  • Contact customer support.

Call your Business Banking representative if you have questions about your account. Alternatively, call 800-987-5521 to reach the bank’s customer support line.

Bottom line

Pick the First Premier Bank Business Rewards Mastercard® if you want a $0 annual fee and small rewards that are easy to keep track of. For a more powerful card, consider products from larger banks, such as Chase, Capital One and American Express.
