You have to log in to your online account to find out how repayments work with RSLFC. Most student loan servicers have an option to sign up for autopay or pay online, over the phone or by mail.
Send all checks or money orders to the following address:
RSLFC Payment Center
PO Box 4500
Aberdeen, SD 57402-4500
Send your repayment at least five to seven business days before it’s due to make sure RSLFC receives it in time.
You can find out how to make extra repayments by contacting customer service. Since few student loans come with prepayment penalties, you likely won’t have to pay any fees when you make an extra repayment.
Most student loan servicers automatically place your loan in paid ahead status when you make an extra repayment if you don’t specify how you’d like it to be applied. This means your extra repayment is applied to your next payment due, as opposed to being used to pay off your loan principal. If you’d like your extra repayments to be used a different way, ask customer service to provide instructions for how they’re applied.
You can contact RSLFC’s customer service team a few different ways:
Get in touch with a customer service representative by calling one of the following numbers:
You can send RSLFC an email to gethelp@slfc.com or fill out a form on its website:
Prefer snail mail? You can send a letter to RSLFC’s corporate office:
Reunion Student Loan Finance Corporation
105 1st Avenue SW
Aberdeen, SD 57401-4104
Send documents and other correspondence via fax by dialing: 800-622-4464.
You can refinance your RSLFC student loans by taking out another loan with a different provider to pay off your balance. Refinancing can get you a more competitive rate or more flexible repayment terms. Beyond this, it’s the only way to change your servicer if you’re unhappy with RSLFC.
Before you refinance, make sure your new lender doesn’t use RSLFC as a servicer.
RSLFC handles repayments for the following banks and student loan providers:
We update our data regularly, but information can change between updates. Confirm details with the provider you're interested in before making a decision.
RSLFC has relatively few complaints for a lender and student loan servicer. As of February 2019, it only has one complaint filed against it with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). And only five customers have complained to the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
Here are the two top issues borrowers had with this servicer:
Of the few customers that filed complaints against RSLFC, one common theme was how it handled repayments. One customer said it had withdrawn funds from their account without permission. Another said they’d gone into default despite making repayments.
At least one other customer mentioned that RSLCF incorrectly reported their loan was in default, despite signing up for automatic repayments. On top of this, the borrower claimed they had been working to resolve the issue for over a year without any progress.
With so few online comments and complaints, it’s difficult to tell what your experience might be with RSLFC should you refinance to this servicer. And since such little information is available on its website, you’ll likely need to have an RSLFC student loan to find out what it truly offers.
Unhappy with your experience with RSLFC? Consider refinancing with another lender and read our guide to student loan servicers to find out how it compares to other companies.
You can find out if you’re eligible for deferment or forbearance by calling RSLFC — you might qualify if you’re facing financial hardship, going back to school or going on active military duty. If you’re eligible, the RSLFC representative can give you instructions on how to apply.
Reach out to RSLFC and explain your financial situation. If you’re struggling with repayments, RSLFC might be willing to make some adjustments. Or you can apply for student loan refinancing with another lender that offers rates and terms that better suit your needs.
Yes, RSLFC has a customer feedback form. While it might not resolve your problem as quickly as reaching out to customer service, it might help the servicer improve its overall approach to customers.
You can file a complaint by completing a customer feedback form on the RSLFC website. Go to the main page, click RSLFC in the main navigation bar and select Customer Feedback to access the form.
