Once you’ve finished your online shopping, there’s still the checkout process to deal with. This step can be a bit annoying as you have to input information you’ve likely had to type out countless times — such as your shipping address and payment details.

Masterpass gives you a way around that hassle, letting you pay quickly at participating retailers with just your email or phone number and a password.

What is Masterpass?

Masterpass is a digital wallet from Mastercard that lets you check out faster at eligible online retailers. To use it, you’ll need an account at the Masterpass website with information such as your card details and shipping address. Then, use the account for payments by simply logging in.

Despite its name, Masterpass is compatible with more than simply Mastercard products. You can also add most credit, debit and prepaid cards from Visa, American Express, Discover and Diners Club.

What are the fees to use Masterpass?

While Mastercard has stopped accepting new signups for Masterpass, there was no signup fee. If you currently have the service, there are zero fees associated to use it.
