To apply for the card, however, you must be an HSBC Premier customer.

What to watch out for
- Annual fee.
Expect to pay a $395 annual fee for the card. Authorized users cost an additional $65 per person.
- Penalty APR.
A single late payment could set you back for a late payment fee and a penalty APR of 29.99% variable. Once incurred it will apply for at least six months, but it may apply indefinitely if you don’t pay your balance on time.
- Application eligibility.
You’ll need to have a minimum of $100,000 in an HSBC Premier checking account to apply. Otherwise, you’ll pay a maintenance fee of $50 monthly.
