How to cancel Netflix

Streaming services don’t always make their cancellation procedures clear. Thankfully, you can cancel your Netflix subscription with little hassle.

Canceling your Netflix account

  1. Sign in to Netflix.
  2. Click the down arrow at the top right of the page, next to your profile name.
  3. Select the Account section.
  4. Under Membership and billing, click the gray Cancel membership box.
  5. Click Finish cancellation to confirm you want to cancel.

And there you have it: You’re now unsubscribed from Netflix. You can use your Netflix account until the end of your current billing period or free trial.

    1. I would like to ask why I was charge for 550 pesos fee in my phone billing plan since i did not sign in to Netflix? I only click the free trial ?
    2. how could i unsubscribe? since i did not sign in??? because if you click unsubscribe you will ask me AGAIN to sign in ?
    3. I don’t have an account with the Netflix
    PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE I DON’T HAVE MONEY TO PAY FOR IT!

      Hi there,

      It’s difficult to say why you would have been charged by Netflix if you didn’t sign up with them, though if you did sign for a free trial then you would have been charged as soon as the trial period ended. If you did not sign up for an account or trial and have received an erroneous charge from Netflix, I would recommend contacting their customer support online or by phone to get more information and see if there’s anything that can be done on their end to help fix this.

    I canceled my subscriptionon July21, 2019.
    I keep getting emails that i have not made my monthly payments.
    Can this be stopped please

      Hi Joanne,

      If you’ve officially cancelled your account, then you should not be receiving any payment requests from Netflix. If your payment information has become invalid without cancelling the account (such as if a debit card you used to pay for your subscription expired) then you would have received a communication from Netflix telling you about it, and that your account is suspended until your payment info was updated.

      However, if you did cancel your subscription and have been getting repeated emails claiming you need to update your payment information, it’s possible that what you’ve received is not from Netflix at all, but actually a scam email that is trying to get you to put in personal information. Netflix will never send emails asking for any sort of personal information such as payment details or account login information. If you’re not sure if the emails are legit, you can report it to Netflix’s Help Center or forward the message to phishing@netflix.com so they can handle it.

    I want to cancell my 30 day free trial before I get charged. How do I do it?

      Thanks for getting in touch!

      If you want to cancel your Netflix account before you get charged for your first month, cancel your Netflix subscription before the end of your first 30 day trial ends.

      Canceling your Netflix account
      1. Sign in to Netflix.
      2. Click the down arrow at the top right of the page, next to your profile name.
      3. Select the Account section.
      4. Under Membership and billing, click the gray Cancel membership box.
      5. Click Finish cancellation to confirm you want to cancel.

      If you cancel early, you can continue to watch Netflix until your account automatically closes at the end of your current billing period — even if you’re on a free trial. You will not be charged again unless you restart your account.

      If your account is charged via a billing company and if you do not see the cancellation option in your account, you will need to cancel the account with your billing company. On your Account page, you will see either a link to guide you through the cancellation process with your billing company, or instructions to contact your billing company to cancel.

    I made my account but I immediately cancelled my subscription a couple of minutes after making my account. I then got an email that my subscription will end on the 24th of August. Will still pay for one whole month?

      No. you will not pay any membership charges anymore once you cancel your Netflix account. If you cancel early, you can still continue to watch Netflix until your account automatically closes at the end of your current billing period.

      To see when your account will close, you can simply click on the ‘Billing details’ link on your Account page.

    How do I close the account of a subscriber who recently died? I have Power of Attorney but do not have User/Account numbers.

    I cancelled my account last month never used it first month was free but I paid $8, was supposed to get money back if I cancelled in time haven’t received money yet. What do I do?

    Will Netflix still charge me even if I didn’t finish the sign up? I gave my card number but it told me to use a different card and I can’t cancel.

    Hello, I have cancelled my membership now according to the steps given above. I have received a mail saying that your membership will be cancelled by 29 April, 2019 along with your current mobile bill. I won’t be using the account for this month at all. So, will I be charged for it along with my mobile bill until they actually cancel my membership?

      Thanks for getting in touch! If you canceled your plan after your cut off date, this means your account will run one more month until 29 April 2019. This means your card will be charged along with your current mobile bill one more month for Netflix.
