Metal credit cards you can custom design

Get noticed every time you pay with your credit card.

Picture not described

For many, a metal credit card represents prestige. While these cards may seem elite or out of your price range, it’s actually possible for anyone to get one. You can even customize your metal credit card completely — you can use your own photograph, your company logo, your family coat of arms or you can use it as a fashion accessory to go with your new BMW or with your style.

However, unless you’re using your card provider’s design tools, these services aren’t free and you’re giving up your card to third parties.

Which metal credit cards can I custom design?

If you own a Wells Fargo Propel American Express® Card, you can likely customize it with the Wells Fargo Design Studio service. If you own another credit card where you can’t directly work on its design, you can use a conversion service such as Lion Credit Card.

This may not be worth the trouble if you already own a metal credit card. But you might want to consider such services if you own a plastic credit card and want to convert it into a metal one with a custom design.

What are metal credit card conversion services?

If you’re not happy with the look of your plastic credit card, you can convert it into a metal one and choose a design. You can create a head-turner card to look like gold, silver, black, chrome, camo or carbon fiber.

How much do metal credit card conversion services cost?

The conversion costs depend on the service you decide to go with. Here’s a break down of the three more popular options:

Before you can customize your credit card, you must first either have a card already or apply for one. You can get a metal card or a plastic card and if the card provider doesn’t offer a customization option, you can consider purchasing a metal card conversion service.

How to get a custom metal card

Once you have your credit card, here’s what to do:

  1. Visit the website of a metal card conversion service.
  2. Choose a card design or provide your own.
  3. Follow the steps and purchase your card conversion.

Bottom line

There is only one metal card that you can probably customize directly from the bank’s internal service and that’s Wells Fargo Propel American Express card. Your other option is to apply for any credit card you want, metal or plastic, and use a metal conversion service where you can choose one of the designs or you can customize the card with your own logo.

If you haven’t chosen your card yet, make sure to compare your credit card options until you find the right card for your wallet.
