How to compare Barclaycard cards with no annual fee

With all the no-annual-fee credit cards, choosing the right Barclaycard may seem overwhelming. Consider the following to help you make a decision:

  • Do you often go on cruises?
Aside from earning rewards on purchases, you can use a Barclaycard cobranded rewards card to get perks and discounts on your preferred cruise line: Princess Cruises, Holland America Line or Carnival.
  • Do you often stay at hotels or timeshares?
Barclays has a decent collection of cobranded cards for Wyndham hotels and resorts, Diamond resorts, Choice hotels, RCI timeshares, Priceline.com bookings and more.
  • Do you want an airline card?
The JetBlue Card is the only no-annual-fee airline card offered by Barclays, but it’s a decent one. You get to earn rewards on your purchases, earn a signup bonus, get in-flight savings on food and beverages, and you won’t pay foreign transaction fees when traveling abroad.
  • Do you often travel and dine out?
Barclays’s newly refreshed no-annual-fee Uber Visa Card lets you earn 5% back on all Uber purchases, including UberEATS and JUMP bike and scooter rentals. You’ll also earn a solid 3% on restaurants, bars, airfare, hotels and vacation home rentals. On everything else, you’ll earn 1% back.
  • Do you love reading?
The Barnes & Noble Mastercard® could be an ideal choice for the avid reader. You get to earn 5% back on all Barnes & Noble purchases, both in-store and online, plus you get to earn store gift cards, store membership and more.
  • Are you an NFL fan?
Barclaycard has a special card for the hardcore NFL fans that lets you earn points on NFL merchandise. Also, you get 20% discounts at NFLshop.com, you get ticket financing options, and exclusive NFL rewards and team experiences.
  • Are you looking to save money for college?
The Upromise® Mastercard® can be an excellent choice if you want to earn cash back on your purchases that goes directly to your eligible 529 college savings plan.

Will I earn more rewards if I pay an annual fee?

Yes, this is often the case. However, Barclaycard’s selection of credit cards with an annual fee is limited mostly to airline brands. You can choose cobranded credit cards for:

  • Hawaiian Airlines
  • American Airlines
  • Frontier Airlines
  • JetBlue
  • Lufthansa

Bottom line

Most no-annual-fee Barclaycard credit cards are designed for travel in the form of airline, hotel or cruise line cobranded credit cards. But you can also find rewards cards for everyday spendings, such as dining, for Barnes & Noble purchases and for Apple purchases.

If this selection of cards doesn’t seem appealing enough, check out other credit cards and compare your options.
