A credit card concierge service acts as your personal assistant. The service includes helping you book travel and recommending places to visit, finding event tickets, arranging reservations at a restaurant and finding and sending a gift. Among credit card features, concierge service is most often found on higher-end card offerings such as luxury cards.
What can a concierge service do?
There are some things that credit card concierge service can’t do, including sell items for you, book tickets to sold-out events, assist you in illegal activities or tell you what other clients — including primary cardholders and authorized users — have requested.
But if you need help with the requests listed below, give your credit card concierge service a call.
Concierge services
Research The credit card concierge service can help you find the perfect restaurant for meetings or a date. It can help you find a location with the best online reviews or the best place to visit while traveling abroad. The service will research any subject you require and can call you back. However, it’s a good idea to also do your own additional research.
Search for lost items If you lose your phone or bag at the airport, taxi or hotel, the concierge service will make phone calls and provide you with the best way to retrieve your items.
Restaurant reservations The concierge service can make dining suggestions based on the criteria you provide. They can also make a reservation in one or several locations you can choose from. They will cancel the rest. But if the restaurant is booked, they may not be able to assist.
Event tickets Credit card concierge can find tickets for sporting events or concerts. Even if an event is fully booked, you can still try to get tickets as the concierge may know who to call.
Travel reservations A concierge can make airline reservations for you, they can call a taxi or a limo, arrange a car rental or get a driver, book hotel stays or cruising. They can also arrange sightseeing, excursions and other activities.
Assistance If you need help finding the perfect gift, flowers, or assistance with business presentations, the credit card concierge has you covered.
What concierge credit card programs are there?
There are five credit card concierge service programs:
World Mastercard, World Elite Mastercard and Luxury Card Travel
Luxury Card Travel
Visa Signature and Visa Infinite
American Express
Citi Concierge
Depending on your credit score, some credit card providers will issue a lower-tier version of the card without concierge service. For example, instead of getting a Visa Signature credit card, you could receive a Visa Platinum.
How to choose the best credit card concierge service
To choose the right credit card for the concierge service, here’s what to consider:
Annual fee. As a general rule — the higher the card’s annual fee, the better the concierge service. That said, expect to pay $550 annually or more for your card to enjoy the best concierge service.
Quality of concierge service. Finder ran a few experiments during the coronavirus pandemic in April 2020 to see whether some concierge services would deliver. It turned out not all concierge services are equal. Some can fulfill your needs, while others may fall short.
Rewards. Getting a solid concierge service is definitely useful. But also, why not get something back for your credit card purchases? Choose the card that offers rewards on the categories where you spend most.
We ran the tests: which service came out on top?
To get a better idea of how these concierge services differed, we put them to the test. Three members of the Finder team called their card’s concierge service and asked for availability of a specific product. Luxury Card, Chase and Amex concierge services were all included in these tests and we all called at exactly the same time to see which could fulfill our request faster. Our request was the same across four tests, but the products we asked for differed in each: toilet paper, yeast, kettlebells and condoms.
You can click through to read the full results on each, but in short, Luxury Card concierge offered what was often the fastest and most convenient service. However, the differences between each concierge services were ultimately rather small and all managed to fulfill our requests admirably.
Do I really need a credit card with concierge service?
The fact is — most travel credit cards with a decent concierge service should be good enough to meet your needs. But sometimes, your concierge will go the extra mile for you. This is reflected in the card’s annual fee.
The best concierge service comes with cards priced at $550 or higher. Unless you’re getting the card for all the other perks it offers, it may not be worth getting it just for the concierge service.
Compare concierge service cards
Although most credit card concierge services can assist you with the same tasks, not all cards cost the same or offer the same additional perks. Compare the cards below to find the right fit for your wallet.

It’s convenient, easy, and all you have to do is call for the concierge to assist you. You can ask for travel recommendations and arrangements, dining reservations, help finding and sending gifts or flowers and more.
