The basics

If you often stay at Marriott Bonvoy hotels, the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card can be an excellent choice. Earn accelerated points on your stays and get a free night every year on your card anniversary. If you never owned a Marriott card before, earn a generous signup bonus worth up to 10 stays at Category 1 properties.

The perks

  • Reward points.
Earn 6x points at more than 6,500 participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels. Everything else you buy earns 2x points.
  • Signup bonus.
Spend $3,000 on purchases in your first 3 months of card membership and get 75,000 bonus points. According to the Marriott website as of March 2019, that’s enough points to redeem for 13 nights at category 1 properties or four nights at category 4 properties.
  • Free Night Award.
Every year after your card anniversary, enjoy a free night award valid for properties worth up to 35,000 points for one stay. You can claim your first reward night 12 months after you open your account.

How much rewards can I earn with the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card?

Suppose you spend $10,000 annually on participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels, and $10,000 on all other purchases with this card, you would earn 80,000 points. As of December 2018, the Marriott Bonvoy website lists that one point can be worth anywhere from 0.5 cents up to 1.1 cents depending how you redeem it.

If you clear the signup bonus, you’d earn a total of 155,000 points. Once you pay the annual fee, your points could be worth up to $1,400 in your first year.

If your spending pattern is similar and you use your free night award, worth up to 35,000 points, after you pay for the annual fee you’d earn up to $1,100 from the second year.

How much do I have to spend to make the annual fee worth it?

The card comes with an annual fee of $95, which means you have to spend between $1,700 and $3,300 per year — depending on which properties you redeem your points for — to offset the annual fee.

What to watch out for

  • Annual fee.
You’ll pay a $95 annual fee to own the card. But if you frequently stay at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels, you can offset the annual fee many times over.
  • Signup bonus eligibility.
If you’ve held this card or the Marriott Rewards® Premier credit card in the last two years, you may not be eligible to get the new signup bonus.
  • No intro APR period.
The card doesn’t have a 0% intro APR period. If you’re looking to move your balance and consolidate your debt or make a large purchase and carry your balance interest free, look for a 0% intro APR card.
