finder.com takes seriously the objectivity and evaluation of our research, which is independently funded and without biased consideration from any of the participating providers. We believe strongly in consumer transparency and helping them make the appropriate decision. Finding the necessary information to provide the correct recommendation were the goals of this research. As a business, we do receive commissions from some of the providers that participated in the study, but this did not skew the results. To maintain credibility as a reputable source of information, we had to take an unbiased approach even if winners were not clients.

Mission

At finder.com, we are passionate about helping people make better financial decisions. For over three months, we took on the challenge of sending money internationally, generating quotes, conducting user testing, and verifying provider information to uncover which online providers are setting the benchmark according to:

  • Cost
  • Trust
  • Speed
  • Convenience
  • User experience

Our survey of over 2,000 Americans revealed that 80% of those who have transferred money internationally are unhappy with their money transfer provider. We want people to feel assured when transferring money across borders, and these awards will bring clarity and confidence back to the industry.

Methodology

The money transfer industry is notorious for lacking transparency. As a result, we don’t take anything at face value. We reviewed 35 providers collecting over 1,575 data points and narrowed them down to 13 contenders.

Our team of researchers closely examined these providers by conducting:

  • Live transfers to France and Mexico
  • Usability research with 39 participants from UserTesting.com
  • Quote generation on 2,430 transactions
  • Site testing to verify 585 data points collected from provider websites
