Amazon Prime Day Shopping Statistics 2021
An estimated 1.9 million Hong Kong adults plan to shop during Amazon Prime Day sales.
29% of Hong Kong adults – an estimated 1.9 million people – plan to shop during Amazon Prime Day 2021, according to Finder’s Amazon Prime Day shopping report. We polled a convenience sample of 1,002 people to find out what they plan to buy.
More than half of those planning to shop during Prime Day 2021 will buy an Amazon product or service
15% of Hong Kong adults say they plan to buy an Amazon product, such as a Kindle or an Echo, or an Amazon service like Amazon Prime. 13% say they’ll buy a tech product and 3% say they’ll buy a service, with 1% of people planning to buy both.
The remaining 14% aren’t planning to make any Amazon-specific purchases. Spending in other categories is evenly split across consumer tech, clothing, accessories and makeup, and products for the home, with 4% of people spending in each category.
More women plan to shop on Amazon Prime Day than men
31% of women plan to shop on Amazon Prime Day, compared to 28% of men. Women are more likely to purchase clothing, accessories and makeup as well as Amazon services, while men are more likely to buy Amazon tech and other consumer tech products. The biggest difference in spending can be seen in Amazon tech products, with men outbuying women by 3 percentage points.
Those aged 25-34 plan to shop for Amazon tech products
Those aged 18-24 and 25-34 are the most likely to shop during Prime Day (33%), followed by those aged 55-64 (28%), 45-54 (26%) and 35-44 (20%). Hong Kong adults aged 25-34 are also the most likely to purchase Amazon tech products, with 14% of adults from this age group saying they intend to make an Amazon tech purchase.
