Our verdict

Get paid in cash or gift cards just for giving your opinion, but don’t expect it to make you rich.

Prime Opinion is a survey site and app that lets you get paid for completing surveys and playing games. Signing up online is easy, and you could earn as much as CA$7 per survey you complete. When you're ready to cash out, redeem your rewards for cash, a wide range of gift cards or a charitable donation.

But like other survey sites, Prime Opinion doesn't pay enough to replace your regular income. It actually took me almost four hours to earn US$5 — just enough to cash out with a Virtual Visa. You'll also need to deal with the frustration of getting screened out of surveys or having to make in-game purchases to progress. Still, if you want to earn some extra cash online, Prime Opinion is worth a look.

Pros

  • Easy to sign up and start earning
  • Earn up to CA$7 per survey
  • Wide range of rewards available
  • Low minimum withdrawal
  • Highly rated mobile app

Cons

  • Uses a points system
  • Not going to make you rich
  • Points expire after 12 months
  • Some users complain about getting screened out of surveys

What is Prime Opinion?

Prime Opinion is a market research platform owned and operated by Prime Insights AB, a Swedish corporation with its headquarters in Dover, Delaware. Prime Insights AB has over 20 million members in 40 countries around the world across all its survey and rewards platforms, including Prime Opinion, Five Surveys, HeyCash, EarnStar and TopSurveys.

Once you create a Prime Opinion account, you can find surveys you’re eligible for online or via the mobile app, or download mobile games and complete certain tasks like levelling up or making an in-app purchase.

You’ll receive reward points for every survey or in-game task you complete, with 100 points equal to US$1. When you’re ready to make a withdrawal, you can redeem your points for cash, dozens of gift cards or a charitable donation.

Is Prime Opinion legit?

Yes, Prime Opinion is a legit paid survey platform. This market research site accepts members from Canada and several other countries around the world and allows you to earn cash or gift cards, or make charitable donations for completing online surveys and other small tasks.

Prime Opinion has also received thousands of positive customer reviews across platforms like Trustpilot, Google Play and Apple’s App Store. I’ve also tested the platform myself until I reached the minimum requirement of 500 points to cash out with a Virtual Visa, which I received within 30 minutes.

What is Prime Opinion’s minimum cash-out amount?

Prime Opinion doesn’t publicly disclose a set minimum cash-out, likely because it varies by reward. However, I noticed that before I claimed a reward, the lowest minimum cash-out requirement was 500 points. After I used my first 500 points to cash out a $5 Virtual Visa, I noticed I could redeem some rewards with as few as 100 points, though the minimum cash-out for gift cards stayed the same, ranging from 144 to 17,986 points.

After your first withdrawal, here’s the minimum cash out you can expect for some of Prime Opinion’s popular rewards:

  • Virtual Visa: 100 points
  • Revolut: 360 points
  • PayPal: 360 points
  • Amazon.ca gift card: 144 points
  • Uber Eats CA gift card: 1,439 points
  • Charity donations: 500 points

What I like about Prime Opinion

  • Easy to use. It took less than five minutes to sign up for Prime Opinion, verify my account and download the mobile app. I also found both the website and app easy to use and navigate.
  • Wide range of surveys and games. When I created an account, there were dozens of Prime Opinion surveys waiting on my account dashboard to be completed. There were even more games available, though many of them required in-app purchases to earn points from Prime Opinion.
  • Low minimum cash-out. Depending on the reward you want, you can make your first withdrawal once your balance reaches 500 points, which equates to $6 CAD. After your first cash-out, the minimum goes down further to 100 points.
  • Variety of rewards. Redeem your points for cash via PayPal or Revolut, over 90 different gift cards, a Virtual Visa or, if you’re feeling generous, you can make a charitable donation to an organization like Doctors Without Borders.
  • Fast payouts. Prime Opinion usually processes reward claims within 10 minutes, providing fast access to funds. I received my first reward, a Virtual Visa, in just under 30 minutes.
  • Highly rated mobile app. The Prime Opinion mobile app has earned plenty of five-star reviews from both Android and iOS users.
  • Referral program. Unlike many survey platforms that offer only a one-time reward for referrals, Prime Opinion lets you earn 10% of the points your friends earn from surveys. Your friends’ earnings aren’t affected, and they can also earn an extra 10% on all surveys they complete within the first 24 hours of signing up.

What to watch out for

  • Slow earn rate. When I signed up for an account, payouts on surveys available to me ranged from US$0.09 to US$3.25, so answering surveys with Prime Opinion won’t let you get rich quickly. Games earn a little more, up to 105,470 points (US$1,000), but you typically have to beat the entire game and make in-app purchases.
  • Survey disqualification. Many Prime Opinion users report being regularly screened out of surveys, which I experienced myself. I spent almost three hours completing pre-questionnaire surveys, and in that time, I only qualified for six full surveys, giving me 195 points (equating to less than US$2).
  • Points system. Prime Opinion pays reward points when you complete surveys or play games, so you’ll need to make sure you understand how many points are worth in Canadian dollars to decide if a task is worth your time.
  • Account deactivation. Prime Opinion reserves the right to deactivate your account if you don’t complete any surveys for 12 months.
  • In-app purchases. Many games require in-app purchases in order to receive points from Prime Opinion.

How to earn money on Prime Opinion

You’ll earn a 100-point welcome bonus when you sign up for Prime Opinion, and there are several ways to earn rewards through the platform.

Complete surveys

  • How it works: Companies conduct market research to get feedback from customers like you. You can find questionnaires you’re eligible to complete in the Surveys section of your Prime Opinion account and sort them by best match, estimated completion time or most points.
  • Time and effort involved: Surveys generally take 5 to 30 minutes to complete.
  • Earning potential: Up to CA$7 per survey.

Complete offers

  • How it works: You can make money online by completing offers from third-party providers, such as playing games and reaching in-game milestones, opening accounts on investing or trading platforms and registering for free trials.
  • Time and effort involved: Varies depending on the offer. In some cases, you may be required to make a deposit or perform a specific task or transaction.
  • Earning potential: Approximately 100 to 90,000 points per offer.

Earn a Leaderboard bonus

  • How it works: Complete 10 surveys, and you’ll unlock the Prime Opinion Leaderboard. The top earners on the platform each week can earn bonus points.
  • Time and effort involved: You’ll need to spend a significant amount of time completing surveys to make it onto the Leaderboard.
  • Earning potential: As of March 2026, the weekly prize pool is 187,200 points (CA$2,602.08), which is shared among top earners.

Level up

  • How it works: As you earn more points on Prime Opinion, your membership level increases. Whenever you reach a new level, you’ll receive bonus points.
  • Time and effort involved: You’ll need to earn 200 points to reach Level 1, but you’ll need to continue completing surveys on an ongoing basis to keep levelling up.
  • Earning potential: You’ll earn 20 bonus points the first time you level up, but rewards for higher levels are not specified.

Complete a streak

  • How it works: Complete at least one survey per day for seven days in a row to win a guaranteed prize.
  • Time and effort involved: 5 to 30 minutes per day for seven consecutive days.
  • Earning potential: 50 to 1,000 points.

Complete achievements

  • How it works: Earn bonus points as you complete more surveys, with four milestone achievements available: completing 5, 50, 500 or 5,000 surveys.
  • Time and effort involved: Since surveys take 5 to 30 minutes to complete, it will take a fair amount of time and effort to reach higher achievements, but it took me around 2 hours to complete 5 surveys.
  • Earning potential: 25 to 10,000 points

Refer friends

  • How it works: When you invite new users who sign up to Prime Opinion using your referral code, you’ll get rewarded.
  • Time and effort involved: Minimal.
  • Earning potential: You earn 10% commission on the income your friend earns from completing surveys.

What it's actually like to use Prime Opinion

"I signed up for Prime Opinion, downloaded the app and started testing both surveys and games to see how the platform worked. Each survey showed an estimated time and points reward, but before getting started, I had to answer pre-screening questions that typically took around three to five minutes to complete.

A lot of these screening questions focused on my buying habits, and since I’m not responsible for most purchasing decisions in my household or workplace, I was screened out frequently. When that happened, I only received 1–3 points, which felt low considering the time spent. I also noticed I was answering the same screening questions repeatedly, so I wish the platform saved my responses and only matched me with surveys I was more likely to qualify for.

I didn’t qualify for most of the higher-paying or longer surveys, and after nearly three hours of completing pre-questionnaires, I only managed to qualify for six full surveys. In that time, I earned a total of 195 points, which works out to be less than US$2.

I also tried one of the games, June’s Journey. My first task was to complete level 1, which took me about an hour to do. I only earned 76 points for that achievement, so less than US$1. My next task was to make an in-app purchase, so I stopped playing.

Overall, I found Prime Opinion easy to use but quite time-consuming for the amount I was earning. If you’re already playing the games featured on Prime Opinion or you qualify for more surveys, using the platform may be worth your time. Otherwise, I prefer other market research platforms like Ipsos iSay, as I wasn’t screened out of so many surveys."

How much does Prime Opinion pay?

Prime Opinion says you can earn up to CA$7 per survey. But when I created an account and completed my first survey, the payouts offered on surveys available to me ranged from 9 to 325 points (US$0.09 to US$3.25).

It took me around three to four hours to earn 425 points, which equates to less than US$5. So, while Prime Opinion offers a simple way to earn some extra cash on the side, it’s not enough to provide you with a full-time or even part-time income.

Tips to maximize success on Prime Opinion

  • Sign up for multiple platforms. Register with multiple online survey sites to give yourself access to the widest range of surveys. You can then browse each platform to find the best survey opportunities available to you at any given time.
  • Refer a friend. When you refer a new user to Prime Opinion, and they sign up using your link, you’ll earn a 10% commission on all the survey points they earn. It only takes a minute for you to refer someone, but it could potentially provide you with an ongoing source of passive income.
  • Log in daily. Check your account each day for details of the latest surveys available to you. If you can dedicate time to answering surveys each day, your rewards balance will steadily grow, and you can earn extra points by completing at least one survey a day for seven days straight.
  • Get the app. Download the Prime Opinion app to ensure that you can complete surveys and offers whenever you have any spare time.

Prime Opinion reviews

Prime Opinion has picked up mostly positive customer reviews online. Its app scores well on both Google Play and the App Store, while Trustpilot reviewers mention factors like Prime Opinion’s ease of use, the fact that it always has a wide range of surveys and games available and the flexible payout options.

People who leave negative reviews sometimes complain about having their accounts locked or not being credited any rewards for surveys they have completed.

What does Reddit say about Prime Opinion?

Reddit user feedback for Prime Opinion is mixed — as it generally is for most survey sites. On the positive side, users mention that the platform is legit and provides a way to make money online. But other users complain about regularly being screened out of surveys, and they also point out that you’re not going to be able to earn a substantial amount of money by completing surveys.

Is Prime Opinion safe?

Prime Opinion says it will never sell your email or share it with survey clients. Surveys also don’t require you to provide any personally identifiable information, and all responses you give are kept anonymous.

The fact that Prime Opinion has also received plenty of positive reviews on independent websites also helps reassure new users that they are dealing with a legit platform.

How does Prime Opinion make money?

It’s free to sign up for Prime Opinion, and the platform doesn’t charge any fees, so Prime Opinion most likely makes money from commissions. It acts as the middleman between businesses that need to conduct market research and everyday consumers like you. It also connects game and app developers with new users, and in return for these services, it receives commissions.

Prime Opinion app

The Prime Opinion app is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store. I found it easy to use, especially when downloading mobile games, as the Apple App Store would automatically pop up. It has all the same features as the website, including:

  • Access to surveys and games
  • Real-time notifications
  • Rewards tracking
  • Fast payouts
  • Referral program
  • Daily streaks, levels and bonuses

Is Prime Opinion worth it?

Prime Opinion is a legitimate and easy-to-use survey and games platform with a low cash-out threshold, fast payouts and a wide range of rewards. It also offers features like a referral program, daily streaks and leaderboard bonuses, adding extra earning opportunities.

However, I found that completing surveys and playing games on Prime Opinion can be quite time-consuming for the amount you earn. Frequent survey disqualifications, low payouts for screening attempts and the need for in-game purchases to progress made my experience frustrating.

Overall, Prime Opinion is best suited for earning a bit of extra cash on the side rather than a reliable income stream. If you qualify for more surveys than I did or enjoy playing games on your phone, it can be worth trying, but for higher and more consistent earnings, you may want to use it alongside other survey platforms or side hustles.
