Coast Capital Savings credit cards
Coast Capital Savings offers three main types of cards: fee-free, low-interest and travel rewards. Cards are suited to BC residents, as Coast Capital Savings is based in British Columbia.
No-fee Elegance GOLD Card
This card lets you earn bonus dollars on purchases, which you can then redeem for financial products, gift rewards, event tickets and travel packages and has no annual fee. Typically, for every $200 dollars spent, you’ll earn one bonus dollar. This means that if you spend $1,000 on purchases per month, you’ll only end up with five bonus dollars. However, you can pay a small fee to qualify for a higher return or a low-interest rate.
This card also offers extended warranty coverage and purchase protection, along with 3-day travel insurance.
No annual fee. Earn bonus dollars with no annual fee.
Insurance options. Get purchase protection, warranty coverage and travel insurance when you shop with your card.
Flexible points. Redeem points for events, gifts or travel.
Low return. You need to spend at least $200 to earn one bonus dollar.
No cashback. Bonus dollars can only be used to tap into Coast Capital Savings rewards.
BC-based. This credit union is based in British Columbia, so you won’t be able to access in-person customer service in other provinces.
Low-rate Modulo® GOLD Card
This card doesn’t offer a ton of benefits, but it comes with a low interest rate and you can earn bonus dollars back on your purchases. This is a competitive feature since most low-interest cards don’t offer any perks or rewards.
With a lower interest rate on purchases, you’ll end up paying less each month on your outstanding balance. The larger the amount you owe, the more you’ll save on interest. You’ll also pay a smaller annual fee than with most other Coast Capital Savings cards. If you’re looking to finance a large purchase or you have trouble paying off your balance in full every month, consider the Low-rate Modulo GOLD Card.
Low interest. You’ll pay a lower interest rate with this card than many other cards on the market.
Bonus dollars. Earn a bonus return on purchases to spend on merchandise, travel and more.
Travel insurance. This card offers 3-day complimentary travel insurance.
No cashback. You can’t exchange bonus dollars for real cash.
Only in BC. You may have difficulty accessing customer service in other provinces.
Few benefits. It’s a fairly basic card, so you won’t be able to take advantage of many extras.
Travel Odyssey® GOLD Card
This card offers the same return on bonus dollars as other Coast Capital Savings cards, but it comes with added benefits including 60 days of extended travel insurance. You can also qualify for a lower interest rate if you pay an additional fee.
This may be a good option for customers who are planning to go on a short trip in the near future and don’t want to cover the cost of travel insurance. Just be forewarned: this card comes with a relatively high fee.
Bonus dollars. You’ll earn a bonus return on all purchases.
Extended travel insurance. You’ll get 60-day travel insurance when you travel worldwide.
High fee. The fee for this card higher than other Coast Capital Savings cards.
Only in BC. You’ll only be able to visit this credit union in person if you live in BC.
Coast Capital Savings credit cards rewards program
Coast Capital Savings credit cards offer returns in the form of bonus dollars, which can be used to purchase financial products (like RRSPs), catalogue rewards, event tickets and travel packages.
How to redeem points
The way you’ll redeem your bonus dollars depends on which kind of rewards you want to cash in on. You can sign into your online banking to see how many points you’ve earned. To redeem points for merchandise, you need to register for an account at www.bonusdollars.ca. For travel, you’ll need to spend the money on your trip in advance, and then you can apply your bonus dollars to your statement to cover the cost.
