ATB offers a variety of different MasterCard credit cards, including rewards, travel, no annual fee, low interest rate and US dollar credit cards. It’s important to note that you must be a resident of Alberta to bank with ATB. Here’s a summary of each of the main types of credit cards you can choose from that are available at ATB:

  • Variable-Rate credit cards

ATB offers a variable-rate credit card with low purchase and cash advance interest rates and a low annual fee. With an ever-changing rate, this type of credit card is good for those who can pay off balances quickly while the rate is at its prime. This type of credit card comes with MasterCard SecureCode and Global Service coverage.

  • Fixed-Rate credit cards

Offering similar features to the variable-rate credit card, ATB offers a fixed-rate credit card that comes with a fixed interest rate for the life of the credit card. This card has a competitive purchase and cash advance interest rate and a low annual fee. Additionally, the card comes with MasterCard SecureCode and Global Service coverage.

  • Travel Rewards credit cards

ATB offers a travel rewards credit card that comes with zero annual fees and allows you to earn points per dollar spent. Your points, which never expire, can then be used toward travel experiences or merchandise. The card a also offers discounts on car rentals, airport lounge access and other travel related products and services. In addition, the card comes with MasterCard SecureCode and Global Service coverage.

  • Rewards credit cards

ATB offers a couple of different rewards credit cards that have zero or low annual fees, cash back or points per dollar spent and the possible opportunity to obtain bonus points when signing up for the card. In addition, these types of cards come with MasterCard SecureCode and Global Service coverage.

  • No Annual Fee credit cards

ATB offers a few no annual fee credit cards, which range from offering travel perks to rewards and merchandise. Depending on the card you choose, you can receive complimentary extras like discounts and competitive interest rates on both cash advances and purchases. As with most credit cards offered by ATB, these cards come with MasterCard SecureCode and Global Service coverage.

  • Secured credit cards

ATB offers a secured credit card, which has a low annual fee but offers a solution to build your credit score and curb your spending. This card comes with an exceptionally low minimum balance that must be paid back each month. In addition, you can apply for extra balance coverage and protection, to go along with the MasterCard Global Service coverage.

  • US dollar credit cards

ATB has one US dollar credit card on offer which has a low annual fee that can be waived if you meet certain criteria. There are no conversion rates or hidden fees and charges with the US dollar credit card and you can purchase additional insurance including travel assistance, accident and collision insurance and purchase insurance and extended warranty.

If you have an ATB credit card, you can access your account through the secure ATM Online Banking link located on the website. Furthermore, you can download the ATB app to your smartphone and access your accounts that way too. With these convenient options, you can manage your account, pay bills, send transfers to other accounts in Canada and overseas, request a credit limit increase or apply for another ATB product at any time online or via the mobile app.

  • ATB credit card complimentary extras

ATB offer MasterCard credit cards only, which usually come with MasterCard SecureCode and Global Service coverage. Additional insurance, like balance protection, extended warranty and purchase protection can be added to some credit cards. Premium cards, like the World Elite MasterCard, usually come with additional complimentary extras which may include travel insurance, car rental and collision insurance, airport lounge access, concierge services and other luxury travel benefits.

ATB have a few different security protocols in place including chip technology and MasterCard SecureCode, which offers an additional layer of security when you make purchases online. Furthermore, ATB will contact you immediately if there is any unusual or suspicious activity on your credit card account. If you are the victim of fraud, ATB will help you restore your bank balance and financial information.

How to apply for an ATB credit card

If you’ve done your own research and have decided you’d like to apply for an ATB credit card, you can begin your secure online application by visiting the ATB website. You will be directed to a secure ATB credit card application page, where you will be able to begin the application process if you have all of the necessary documents and details on hand.

Before you get started on your application, ensure that you meet the eligibility requirements for the specific credit card that you are interested in. Eligibility requirements typically vary between credit cards and providers, but generally include the following:

  • How old are you? You should be 18 years old.
  • What is your Canadian residency status? You will need to be a resident of Alberta.
  • What is your credit history like? Ideally, you should have a good to excellent credit score and no recent evidence of defaults or bankruptcy. Most cards from ATB require that you have not declared bankruptcy in the last five years. Some cards will accept fair to poor credit, so check with the provider on the specific card before you apply if you have less than good credit.

Information you will need for your application

If you meet the eligibility requirements for the ATB credit card of your choice, you can then proceed with your application by gathering the following information:
