The Finder Stock Trading Platform Awards 2022 recognizes the best platforms in Canada for investing in stocks depending on your personal needs.
Finder’s data team crunched 630 data points across 18 brokers to see who came out on top.
The platform with the highest scores across nine different categories was declared the winner. The second and third places received a “highly commended” award. You can see the full methodology here.

Interactive Brokers earned Finder’s top broker award for Canadians due to its extensive research tools, large number of options and cheap commissions, meaning it is tailored towards all types of investors.
WealthSimple has taken our best broker for Canadian stocks award due to its rock-bottom fees. The broker lets you buy and sell 1,000s of stocks and ETFs commission free.
Appearing on the list again, Interactive Brokers has taken our best broker for US stocks award due to its competitive range of features and cheap brokerage.
Our top broker has also won the international category. This is because the broker is truly international, offering investors the chance to invest in 150 markets across 33 countries and 26 currencies.
Appearing for the third time in the Canadian awards, Interactive Brokers has won our active investors category for 2022. The broker offers a number of analytics and research tools, helping those who are more active traders.
Interactive Brokers has taken out this year’s award for long-term investors. The broker’s competitive fees and strong focus on education and resources make it suited towards more long-term investors.
If you’re new to investing, WealthSimple Trade could be the broker for you. It has won our best broker for beginners due to its emphasis on educational resources, strong customer support and rock-bottom fees.
RBC Direct Investing has also won our award for features. Much like its strengths for beginners, the broker offers strong research and analytical tools and a host of educational resources.
If you’re looking to trade via your mobile, then Interactive Brokers is Finder’s choice in 2022. Its mobile-friendly demo accounts, research tools and real-time quotes make it a strong candidate for those looking to trade from anywhere.
