Our verdict
Crypto.com offers safe ways to buy, sell and earn digital assets.
Crypto.com is a good choice for both beginner and experienced cryptocurrency investors.
The exchange supports almost 300 crypto assets and enables you to trade these assets at relatively low fees. And Crypto.com is one of the few major exchanges with an NFT marketplace.
The exchange’s intuitive interface and the numerous learning resources it provides help crypto newbies to feel comfortable getting their feet wet.
With that said, Crypto.com customer service has been reported to be lacking and its fiat withdrawal fees are high.
Pros
- Moderate trading fees. Trading fees on the Crypto.com desktop exchange range from 0.04% to 0.4%. The more volume you trade on the platform, the cheaper the trading fees become. Beware that fees on the app may be different.
- Large insurance policy. Crypto.com has a US$750 million insurance policy for the digital assets that it holds in its custody.
- NFT marketplace. Crypto.com makes it easy to purchase NFTs. You can purchase NFTs on the platform using either fiat or certain cryptos.
- Complies with the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre regulations in Canada. FINTRAC is the peak body for regulating cryptocurrency exchanges in Canada which requires Crypto.com to comply with laws and regulations that are intended to provide certain protections for users.
- Over 271 cryptocurrencies supported. Crypto.com supports 271+ assets, which should give you a good range of industries and asset types to invest in without needing to hop between multiple exchanges.
Cons
- Poor customer service. Even though Crypto.com offers multiple ways for you to get in touch with its support staff, many customers have complained on Trustpilot that the platform’s customer support staff wasn’t very helpful.
- CRO rewards may change. The benefits provided through a Crypto.com debit card are subject to change. In June 2022, rewards were significantly reduced which upset many users. This is an issue because users are required to purchase and hold a portion of CRO tokens to access the benefits.
- No live chat or phone-based customer support. Crypto.com does not have a live customer support service. Instead you will need to consult the FAQ or contact Crypto.com via email, which may take several days to receive a reply.

How to sign up on Crypto.com exchange
Before you can even get started trading on Crypto.com, you have to go through the rigorous verification process (which usually involves proof of identification). This can take quite a long time. The reason for this is Crypto.com's commitment to certifications, and compliance with regulations and insurers.
- Get started
After selecting the Get Started button, fill in the create account form. - Set up payment
Before you can start trading, you have to add your bank account to your Crypto.com account. There are several options to choose from, so choose the option most compatible. - Provide identification
Before you can make withdrawals and increase your transaction limits, you must submit proof of address and some additional identification. Use either a passport or a driver's license for this. - Start trading
After all that is processed, you're ready to trade on Crypto.com.
Using the Crypto.com app
The Crypto.com app hosts all of the features to get a user started with cryptocurrencies. Users can purchase cryptocurrencies directly using either a bank transfer or credit card. Alternatively, users can store fiat currency within the app's fiat wallet that can then be used to make purchases at any time. In addition, for any user that acquires a Crypto.com Visa Card, all of the card details can be managed directly from within the app. Any cryptocurrencies held within the app can then be transferred to the exchange at no cost, and vice versa.
Is Crypto.com safe?
Crypto.com receives a 5-star trust rating. The rating is given based on multiple factors. The company’s zero hack history and the requirement for users to use secondary authentication when logging in are notable.
There have been multiple security audits performed by both internal and external audit teams. Crypto.com offers a large insurance fund to cover any potential losses due to security breaches, and its US bank is FDIC insured.
Past hacks. No hacks have ever taken place on Crypto.com.
Security audits. Crypto.com takes security seriously. Alongside implementing standard security features such as 2-factor authentication (2FA) and the cold storage of all digital assets, the exchange has also listed a bug bounty program on HackerOne. This provides rewards to those who spot gaps in the security of the platform. The company has also completed thorough audits of modules within the Crypto.com ecosystem. For example, the DeFi Swap module is a fork of the Uniswap decentralised exchange, which was originally audited by dApp.org.
However, before launch, DeFi Swap was also audited by Crypto.com’s internal security team. The exchange also makes sure that all protocols listed within the DeFi Swap feature have been fully audited and clear specific guidelines.
Insurance. Crypto.com has amassed a $750 million insurance fund to cover any losses sustained through damage or theft. This includes the recent addition of a $100 million direct insurance policy provided by Arch Underwriting at Lloyd’s Syndicate 2012 for its cold storage assets. For US residents, all USD deposits held on
Crypto.com are deposited into Metropolitan Commercial Bank, which is a member of the FDIC. All deposits made by US residents are therefore insured up to a value of $250,000.
Keeping your crypto secure
All centralised exchanges, including Crypto.com, are vulnerable to counterparty risks like hacking, theft and insolvency. Using a self-custodial or hardware wallet is widely accepted as the best way to improve the security of your funds. We've shared some of our top picks below.

Crypto.com customer support
Crypto.com offers several methods for customer support. These include a 24/7 live web chat, an email ticketing system, a customer service number, a detailed help center and social media platforms.
Although several methods are available, there are many negative reviews regarding these services. Poor reviews state it being hard to get fast customer support and that answers are unhelpful.
