Benefits of MWEB fibre

  • Super-fast Internet. The use of fibre optic cables means your connection should be fast and stable. This means you can feel confident about connecting multiple devices to the internet at the same time. And because fibre doesn’t use traditional copper cables, it’s also comparatively more resilient against theft or poor weather.
  • Range of fibre plans. Uncapped plans with MWEB include speeds such as 10Mbps, 20Mbps, 100Mbps, 200Mbps and 1Gbps. Make sure you compare both the download and upload speeds available with each plan.
  • Fewer connections. By choosing fibre, you can consolidate a number of individual costs per device into one or two by connecting these via WiFi.

Features of MWEB fibre

  • Go landline-free. If you want to keep your landline number, you can do so with MWEB. Simply convert to making phone calls over the Internet using a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). For a small monthly fee with MWEB, you’ll soon be able to make calls online.
  • Fibre notifications. Sign up for MWEB Fibre and they’ll let you know when your suburb is but to get access to fibre.
  • Technical Help. You can get support seven days a week by calling 087 700 0777. Lines are open between 0800 and 2000 (Mon-Sat) or 1000 and 2000 (Sun)

Frequently asked questions

What fees might apply with my MWEB Fibre deal?

Depending on the fibre deal you choose, you may have to pay an installation and/or connection fee. These are among the typical fees which are charged by the infrastructure provider in order to get your home connected to the Fibre cable running in the street. Read your terms and conditions for a full list of the fees and charges you could face with MWEB in order to get a more complete picture of the overall cost of your fibre package. Keep in mind that you’ll only be able to enjoy ‘uncapped’ data if you stay within MWEB’s fair usage policy.

How do I actually get fibre in my home?

The infrastructure provider installers are the groups who physically lay the Fibre cables from the street into your home. They decide which suburbs get Fibre connectivity, and the timing of how long it takes for your Fibre to be installed. MWEB deals with connecting you to the web and managing your internet plan. Once your Fibre line has been installed, you’ll need to connect your Fibre router before you can start browsing the web.

How long will it take for fibre to be ready in my area?

This varies depending on the plans of the infrastructure provider. MWEB won’t have a say in the timing of the process or the decision of which areas to complete first, but they will keep you updated via email and SMS.
