What is Quickswap?
QuickSwap is a decentralised exchange (DEX) built within the decentralised finance (DeFi) ecosystem. Using an automated market maker (AMM), the exchange allows users to instantly swap ERC-20 tokens. According to the QuickSwap blog, the project promises lightning-fast transactions and negligible gas fees. The increase in DeFi functionality has unintentionally resulted in the crowding of Ethereum-based apps and, as such, gas costs can spike frequently. To account for this, QuickSwap was developed on the layer-2 Polygon network. The main goal of layer-2 protocols is to solve the scalability and speed issues that are inherent with existing layer-1 networks, like Ethereum. The Polygon network sends transactions off the main blockchain and into secure Proof-of-Stake ‘sidechains’. This layer-2 solution is known as ‘More Viable Plasma’ and helps the network verify transactions simultaneously. QUICK is an ERC-20 (Ethereum-based) token native to the QuickSwap network. The token is vital to the platform’s economic stability. As well as being used to vote on governance proposals, QUICK tokens are distributed to liquidity providers as an incentive to keep the AMM functional. They can also be staked on the QuickSwap DEX.
Quickswap (QUICK) is the 481st largest cryptocurrency in the world by market cap, valued at $100,709,814. The current price of Quickswap is $279.66, which is -11.696% lower than yesterday. Prices have ranged between $317.85 and $258.02 over the past 24 hours. All prices are listed in US dollars and accurate as of December 05, 2021 12:12 UTC.

What to consider when buying QuickswapBefore purchasing any cryptocurrency, an accurate evaluation of both the token and the associated platform should be completed. With regards to QuickSwap, here are a few things worth considering.
- Competition. QuickSwap DEX has entered relatively late into an already saturated decentralised exchange market. Ethereum’s DeFi ecosystem now hosts several competitive AMM-based exchanges – it’s the whole reason gas prices are so high in the first place. While the QuickSwap platform has an edge due to its low fees, it is still in direct competition with a number of more popular apps. The user interface of QuickSwap is a clone of UniSwap, the most popular DEX by market share.
- Tokenomics. The token was launched in February 2021 and has a maximum supply of 1 million. As of July 2021, there are 160,000 tokens in circulation, representing 16% of the total supply. 90% of all tokens minted have been allocated as an incentive to provide liquidity.
- Governance. QuickSwap aims to become entirely decentralised and governed solely by token holders. It is QuickSwap’s vision that the majority of tokens will be held by LP providers that are contributing to the protocol. However, this poses the issue of ‘whales’ accumulating high numbers of QUICK tokens and influencing proposal votes. Furthermore, as of July 2021, QuickSwap’s decentralised autonomous organisation (DAO) isn’t up and running, meaning governance is still controlled by the developers.
