Best Shiba Inu (SHIB) wallets
Find the best wallets to safely store and use your Shiba Inu coins.
What is a SHIB wallet?
Shiba Inu (SHIB) is an ERC20 token. Any wallet capable of storing and using tokens based on the Ethereum network will also work for storing and using SHIB. A SHIB wallet is any wallet that allows you to store and use your SHIB tokens on the Ethereum network. Depending on who you are and why you bought SHIB in the first place, you will want to select a wallet that meets your needs. You may want to simply store your SHIB long-term in hopes for higher prices at a later date. Alternatively, you may want a SHIB wallet that keeps your SHIB tokens accessible to you and allows you to participate in DeFi.
What to look for in a SHIB wallet
If your goal is for long-term storage, then you need to look no further than our list of hardware wallets. Wallets like a Ledger or Trezor are great for interacting with the Ethereum network, as well as keeping your SHIB safe for long periods of time. Hardware wallets are universally accepted as the safest way to store cryptocurrencies long into the future.
If you're going to be using your SHIB regularly or using them to trade, then perhaps a software wallet like Trust Wallet or MetaMask is the right choice for you. Regardless of which wallet you end up selecting, it is important to find a wallet that allows you to retain custody of your SHIB. Keeping your SHIB on an exchange is only recommended if you intend on trading with them, or making use of them in any on-exchange promotions involving SHIB.
How to withdraw SHIB from an exchange into a wallet
Download and set up your SHIB wallet
Whether you're using a browser wallet like MetaMask or a desktop wallet like Exodus, it must first be downloaded. After initialising the wallet by copying and safely storing your 12–24 word phrase, you are ready to move on to the next step in withdrawing your SHIB from an exchange.
Copy address from the wallet
Some wallets will give you a specific address for sending SHIB to, while others (like MetaMask) will simply give you an Ethereum address. Because SHIB is an ERC20 token, it can safely be sent to any Ethereum address. Make sure to copy and paste the address from the wallet, rather than typing out each individual character.
Send the SHIB to your wallet from the exchange
Once you have the address copied to your clipboard, navigate to the exchange where your SHIB is currently located. Paste the address into the withdrawal interface, double-checking the first and last 6 characters of the address. Once you are satisfied that you have copied and pasted the address correctly, hit send. Check the status of your transaction on a block explorer for an up-to-date look on your transaction.
How to deposit SHIB onto an exchange from a wallet
The first step is to determine which exchange you wish to send your SHIB to. Make sure that the exchange actually supports SHIB before sending it along. You can typically find a list of supported currencies in the exchange's "wallet" or "balances" tab of your account. Once you've verified that SHIB can, in fact, be sent to the exchange, copy the address you're given after hitting the "deposit" button.
Send SHIB from your wallet
Regardless of which wallet you use, the process of sending SHIB to an exchange will be the same. Find SHIB inside your wallet and hit the send button to set up a transaction. Then, paste the transaction you copied from the exchange into the "receiver" or "to" field. Next, fill in the amount of SHIB you wish to send to the exchange. Because SHIB is an ERC20 token, you will need a balance of ETH to send your SHIB. Take note of the fee that you will pay to the network before sending your SHIB. After you're satisfied that you've pasted the right address, input the right amount, and are comfortable with the fee, hit send. Check your transaction on a block explorer to see the status of your transfer.
