The Wawa® Credit Card comes with a $0 annual fee, has a 26.49% variable APR, and a welcome offer of 50 cents back per gallon for the first month. After that, you earn 5 cents per gallon. This may not seem like much, but you’ll get around 2% cash back if a gallon costs $2.50.
Unfortunately, that’s about all there is to this card. The biggest misstep here is the card doesn’t earn rewards on in-store Wawa purchases. For a store that’s so well known for its fresh food and coffee, you’d expect the card to at least earn 1.5% back on such purchases. What’s worse is the card is closed-loop, meaning you can’t use it at other gas stations in a pinch. As such, the Wawa® Credit Card is hard to recommend over a more general gas rewards card, or even a flat cash back credit card — both types of cards will likely offer more value.
To apply for the card, you must be at least 18 years old and a US resident. If you meet these criteria, here’s how to apply:
Increase your chances of approval with a good to excellent credit score of 670 or higher. However, some cardholders managed to get this card with a fair credit score of 630.
Don’t have a Wawa in your area? You can use our table to compare up to 4 other gas rewards cards to find out which one is the best fit for you.
The Wawa® Credit Card comes with a generous 25 cents per gallon at Wawa gas stations during your first two months of card membership. This is the only perk that makes the card worth it.
After that, you earn 5 cents per gallon. This roughly equals to 10% cash back for the first two months and 2% cash back after that. Also, you get to earn rewards only up to your first 100 gallons per month.
But if you buy more gas than that, this card won’t do you any good. If you buy more than 100 gallons per month or if you want a higher rewards rate on your gas purchases, consider other gas credit cards.
