History of Voxies Collection

Voxies are a collection of 3D, animated characters that exist on the Ethereum blockchain. The collection of 10,000 unique characters dropped in early 2021 and were initially sold as collectibles. However, the development team – comprising employees that have worked at major gaming companies like Ubisoft and EA – have since launched a game known as Voxie Tactics.

Evaluating Voxies Collection

As a standalone NFT, Voxies are fairly similar to many other collections. However, the ability to participate in the video game Voxie Tactics brings new life to the investment. This Ethereum-built app is an homage to the turn-based RPG, pixelated releases in the 90s and early 2000s, but with updated mechanics and graphics. Like other tactical RPGs, there are a number of different features and gameplay styles that can be adopted, from purchasing and battling your Voxies, to simple exploration and building. When using your NFT in the game, you can level up certain attributes which will affect your performance. These stats include Armor, Dexterity, Intelligence, Luck, Movement and Strength.

Voxies have developed a secondary marketplace for the community to trade their characters, as well as unique NFT items that can be used in-game.

Voxies have created a native cryptocurrency, known as VOXEL, which is used to compensate players for playing Voxie Tactics, as well as for use on the secondary marketplace.

There are 20 different ‘classes’ of Voxie, which allows for all sorts of unique strategies when playing Voxie Tactics. Some classes fall into multiple categories, which further deepens the tactical elements and potential team combinations when playing.

There are eleven different races of Voxie, with non-human characters such as Doges, Foxes and Zombies substantially rarer than their human counterparts.

Key Considerations

Voxies are a unique NFT collection in that they have an accompanying cryptocurrency and inherent value due to the play-to-earn nature of Voxie tactics. However, when evaluating Voxies in terms of a collectible, there are a number of elements that can impact the rarity, and possibly price, of the NFT characters.

There is a large number of different traits that any given Voxies can possess. This helps make each NFT truly unique, even with 10,000 of them available in the collection. These attributes are:

  • 10 accessories
  • 18 backgrounds
  • 34 bottom costumes
  • 20 classes
  • 23 companions
  • 2 effects
  • 9 emotes
  • 4 emotions
  • 5 eye colours
  • 1 ghost
  • 14 grounds
  • 9 hair colors
  • 12 hair styles
  • 27 hats
  • 19 items
  • 5 outlines
  • 11 races
  • 4 skin tones
  • 35 top costumes
Voxies also each come with a different rarity type. These are split into 7 levels:
  • Common
  • Uncommon
  • Rare
  • Epic
  • Legendary
  • Godly
  • Special
There are only 10 Godly and 5 Special Voxies in the entire collection.
