The best performing stocks on the NYSE and Nasdaq today were Liberty Global Plc (LBTYB, up 6.3%) and Synopsys Inc. (SNPS, up 6.3%).

Overall the market traded fairly flat on the day, with the Nasdaq Composite up a fraction and the NYSE down 0.73%.

Standout performers in U.S. markets Aug. 19, 2021

Liberty Global Plc (LBTYB) was the dominant gainer today.

Shares in the company rose 6.3% to $29.79.

Another strong performer was Synopsys Inc. (SNPS), a NASDAQ company.

It rose 6.3% to reach $308.98.
