You must contact cardmember services within 90 days after travel to request the airline allowance be credited to your account.

  • Annual fee credit.

Spend more than $24,000 per year and U.S. Bank will credit your card’s annual fee of $55, plus $10 for each employee card. That’s just $2,000 in monthly spending to clear the annual fee.

  • No foreign transaction fees.

  • Other perks.

What to watch out for

  • Annual fee.

The U.S. Bank FlexPerks® Business Travel Rewards has an annual fee of $55 after the first year, which can be waived if you make more than $24,000 in purchases annually. In addition, you’ll get a $10 credit for every employee card. If needed, you can redeem around 6,000 FlexPoints to cover the annual fee.

  • No intro APR on purchases and balance transfers.

If you’re looking for a card with an intro APR, consider the U.S. Bank Business Cash Rewards World Elite™ Mastercard®.

  • Penalty APR.

You’ll be charged a penalty APR of 29.99% fixed if you don’t make the minimum payment due in 24 to 30 days after the close of the billing cycle.

FlexPoints explained

Earn FlexPoints with every purchase you make using this card. If you don’t like to wait to earn more points, you can buy FlexPoints at a rate of 3 cents per point. You can purchase a minimum of 3,000 points in 1,000 point increments, up to 60,000 in one calendar year.

Redeem FlexPoints for:
Travel rewards, including airfare, hotels and car rentals — each point is worth 1.5 cents.

  • Annual fee — each point is worth 1.4 cents.
  • Statement credit — each point is worth 1 cent.
  • Merchandise from Apple, Sony, Oakley, Canon, Dell and more — each point is worth 1 cent.
  • Gift cards for Amazon, Best Buy, Sears, Starbucks and more — each point is worth 1 cent.

To put this into perspective, suppose you spend $10,000 per year on air travel or gas. You’ll annually earn 20,000 points — worth $300 in travel rewards. That’s 3% in cashback value. If you spend on all other purchases, you’ll get an additional 25,000 points. Your FlexPoints value for the combined purchases in this case is $375, or 1.5%.

FlexPoints highest value is achieved when you spend more money on a specific category, like gas or air tickets, and then you redeem your points for travel rewards.

Expert review

The U.S. Bank FlexPerks® Business Travel Rewards is a small business credit card designed for frequent travelers. It has an intro $0 annual fee that increases to $55 starting the second year. It also offers a rewards program with 2x points on a category you spend most — gas, airfare or office supplies — 2x points for cell phone expenses and 1x point on all other purchases.

While its rewards aren’t spectacular, the card offers a few unique perks. When you book award flights through the US Bank travel portal, you’ll earn a $25 airline allowance. This is on top of your points getting a value of 1.5 cents each when redeemed for travel. Ultimately, these additions mean you can earn a strong 3% rewards rate or higher on your spending.

The card has an annual fee of $55 starting the second year. But each account year you make at least $24,000 in purchases, U.S. Bank will waive that cost. You’ll also get a $10 credit for every employee card on your account. Qualifying means you must make an average of $2,000 in purchases each month — very reasonable for many businesses.

While the card lacks powerful travel features, this isn’t unexpected given its annual fee. If your business spending lines up with the card’s bonus categories — and you’re able to use your points for travel — this product could be a great pick.
