If you're a beauty and makeup lover that spends more than $100 on pretty things a year, the Ulta's Ultamate Rewards program can save you money with points and exclusive member deals. Heck, it might help even sporadic Ulta shoppers.

What is Ultamate Rewards?

The higher the number of Ulta rewards points, the more money you earn — with double points earned in your birthday month:

With Ultamate Rewards, you earn points for every purchase made at Ulta, which you can redeem for discounts later on.

  • 100 points = $3 off
  • 250 points = $8 off
  • 500 points = $17.50 off
  • 750 points = $30 off
  • 1,000 points = $50 off
  • 2,000 points = $125 off

Ultamate Rewards are earned in three tiers — Members, Platinum and Diamond. And the number of points you earn per dollar depends on which tier you're in.

Ultamate Rewards members receive up to 15 exclusive magazines a year, along with offers worth up to $15 a year. Ultamate Rewards points for Members expire at the end of the quarter, 12 months after you earned them. Platinum and Diamond points never expire.

How to use Ultamate Rewards

Shop at Ulta online or in store to rack up points on any beauty product or service. You won’t earn points on gift cards, taxes and shipping fees.

  • In store. Present your membership card at checkout, or ask the associate to look up your account with your phone number or member ID.
  • Online. Log in to your Ulta account, and make sure your member ID is on the My Account page. When you make an online purchase, points are added to your account after the order ships.

We love that you can combine Ultamate Rewards points with other deals and discounts to fund a purchase. For instance, combine that $3 off with a discounted item from Ulta's 21 Days of Beauty Sale.

How can I check my points balance?

Log in to your Ulta account online or through the Ulta Beauty app to track your points. If you pay using an Ulta credit card, your points balance is also at the bottom of your receipt and in your monthly statements.

More ways to earn Ultamate Rewards points

User privacy when using Ultamate Rewards

Ulta tracks your shopping habits via cookies to tailor your shopping experience. And if you sign up for Ultamate Rewards, you'll get personalized discounts and deals based on this information. This is standard practice for most online retailers.

Does Ulta sell my personal information to third parties?

Yes — unless you opt out. But this applies to anyone shopping on Ulta's site, not just Ultamate Rewards members.

Ulta says that it may sell "online identifiers and internet or other electronic network activity information" to marketing companies and third parties, according to its privacy policy. Identifiers can include your IP number and social media channels, along with other data that it collects about your shopping habits and online activity.

The good news is that you can easily opt out. Here's how:

  • On Select Guest Services at the bottom of the page, and then scroll to and check Do not sell my personal information.
  • Through the iOS app. Navigate to the footer and select Terms & Privacy, then check Do not sell my personal information.
  • Through the Android app. Navigate to the navigation menu, select Terms & Privacy and check Do not sell my personal information.

Bottom line

We like that Ultamate Rewards is free, so there are few downsides to joining. If the thought of giving away your email and signing up for yet another program isn't for you, consider browsing deals and discounts that don't require a membership to save money when shopping in the meantime.
