Yes, that is rather a lot of abbreviations.<\/p><h4 id=\"transfer\">Start a transfer of at least \u00a35,000 by 31 May 2026.<\/h4><p>You need submit a completed IG transfer form by midnight on 31 May 2026 to initiate a transfer of at least \u00a310,000 from one of your accounts elsewhere to begin moving over to IG. You can make a transfer into your new GIA, stocks and shares ISA, or self-invested personal penion (SIPP). You can open an IG account within just a few minutes. Sometimes IG does extend its offers, but you can\u2019t bank on that.<\/p><h4 id=\"until-date\">Your transfer must take place before 31 July.<\/h4><p>Along with starting your transfer by 31 May, you need to ensure you\u2019ve left enough time for the transfer to fully complete by 31 July. Sometimes ISA and SIPP transfers can take a few weeks, so it\u2019s worth getting the ball rolling as soon as you can to make sure you\u2019ve left enough breathing room.<\/p><p>This part of the process is largely out of your hands, but just like solicitors blaming each other when you\u2019re buying a house, your old trading platform may blame IG for any delays to the transfer, and vice versa\u2026 in which case a little chasing up could be needed.<\/p><h4 id=\"hold-investment\">Hold an open position between 31 May 2026 and 31 May 2027.<\/h4><p>This means you\u2019ll need to actually buy some stocks or ETFs before the end of May, and hold them for a year. Confusingly, the dealine for opening your first position is before the deadline for the transfer to complete. So there\u2019s an outside chance you may have to press on and place a trade before your transfer has gone through, in order to be eligible your reward.<\/p><p>The good news is that share dealing on IG is commission-free. Expect to pay stamp duty of 0.5% if you opt for a UK stock, or a 0.7% <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ig.com\/uk\/help-and-support\/investments-c4a66529\/share-dealing-and-isas-58c5d97a\/fees-and-charges-7aa72ae2\/what-are-igs-currency-conversion-fees-for-share-dealing-78fe3522\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FX fee<\/a> if it\u2019s not a UK stock.<\/p><p>You\u2019ll need to hold your initial investment (i.e. not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.finder.com\/uk\/share-trading\/share-trading-guides\/beginners\/how-to-sell-shares\">sell your shares<\/a>) until at least 31 May 2027. During that time, its value could go up or down.<\/p><h4 id=\"amount\">Larger transfers get larger rewards<\/h4><p>The size of the cashback reward depends on how much you transfer in.
