It also has fee-free spending abroad and access to the Edge Saver. In return, you&#8217;ll need to pay a \u00a317 monthly fee to maintain the account. <\/p><p>You can open the account individually or jointly, but you&#8217;re only allowed one account per person, meaning you can&#8217;t have an individual account and a joint account.<\/p><h3>How does it work?<\/h3><p>The Santander Edge Explorer has the following key features: <\/p><ul><li><strong>Travel insurance.<\/strong> With the account, you get worldwide family travel insurance. <\/li><li><strong>Breakdown cover.<\/strong> UK and EU breakdown cover, including if you are a passenger. <\/li><li><strong>Mobile phone insurance.<\/strong> Family mobile phone insurance including up to 4 devices. <\/li><li><strong>GP Services.<\/strong> 24\/7 remote GP access. <\/li><li><strong>Cashback.<\/strong> Earn 1% cashback on selected household bills when you pay by direct debit (up to \u00a310 a month) and earn 1% cashback at supermarkets and on travel costs when you use your debit card (up to \u00a310 a month). <\/li><li><strong>Zero foreign transaction fees.<\/strong> There are no fees for using your debit card to withdraw cash or make payments outside the UK in the local currency.<\/li><li><strong>Access to the Edge Saver.<\/strong> As an Edge account holder, you&#8217;ll get access to the Edge Saver account 6% AER.<\/li><\/ul><h3>Who is it for?<\/h3><p>To open the Santander Edge Explorer account, you&#8217;ll need to be at least 18 years old and permanently live in the UK. You can only hold 1 Santander Edge Explorer current account, either 1 in your own name or 1 in joint names. <\/p><p>With this account, there are no direct debit or salary requirements. However, joint account holders must live at the same address. <\/p><h3>Santander customer reviews<\/h3><p>Customers who participated in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.finder.com\/uk\/current-accounts\/finder-current-accounts-customer-satisfaction-awards-2025\">Finder&#8217;s 2025 customer satisfaction survey<\/a> were mainly positive about Santander, with many highlighting its &#8220;good&#8221; customer service and &#8220;easy to use&#8221; app.<br \/>However, Santander was towards the bottom of the table in our 2025 banking customer satisfaction awards, with 78% of customers happy to recommend the brand to a friend.<article class=\"luna-card luna-card--alt\"><div class=\"luna-card__block has-padding-small\">We show offers we can track - that's not every product on the market...yet.
