You can open an IG account within just a few minutes, and providing it\u2019s with market hours, placing a trade is near-instant too. Sometimes IG does extend its offers, but you can\u2019t bank on that.<\/p><h4 id=\"trade300\">You must invest at least \u00a3300 within 30 days.<\/h4><p>This means you\u2019ll need to actually buy some stocks or ETFs. The good news is that share dealing on IG is commission-free, but expect to pay stamp duty of 0.5% if you opt for a UK stock, or a 0.7% <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ig.com\/uk\/help-and-support\/investments-c4a66529\/share-dealing-and-isas-58c5d97a\/fees-and-charges-7aa72ae2\/what-are-igs-currency-conversion-fees-for-share-dealing-78fe3522\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FX fee<\/a> for international shares (like US companies, for example). To trade US stocks you\u2019ll need to complete a W-8BEN form (to certify your non-US tax residency status), which is a quick and easy task in the app.<\/p><h4 id=\"hold-investment\">Stay invested for 3 full calendar months.<\/h4><p>If you place your trade on, say, the 20th July, you\u2019ll need to stay invested throught August, September and October. You don\u2019t have to hold your initial investment (i.e. not sell the stocks) but you do have to keep that \u00a3300 invested (so not just sitting as cash in the account).
