If your application is accepted, you can use your card to make a purchase and then pay off your balance in full on your next monthly payment or split it into 3 monthly payments, interest-free. <\/p><p>Alternatively, if you need longer to pay back what you owe, you could split your purchase into 6, 12 or 24 monthly payments, but you\u2019ll be charged interest at 29% APR (representative). <\/p><p>As well as being able to \u201cflex\u201d at the checkout, you can also flex an existing Monzo current account transaction that you made up to 14 days ago and select a payment plan for it. Monzo will then refund you the amount and take the initial payment. You can flex any amount as long as you have enough available credit. But if you choose to flex your current account purchases, you lose your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.finder.com\/uk\/credit-cards\/what-happens-when-you-get-a-credit-card-refund\">section 75 protection<\/a>.<\/p><p>If you\u2019ve selected a shorter payment plan and need longer to pay it, simply edit your instalments in the app. If your instalment plan is interest-free and you switch to a long-term plan, you\u2019ll be charged interest.<\/p><h3>How to get Monzo Flex<\/h3><p>You\u2019ll need to have a Monzo current account before you can apply for Monzo Flex. If you don\u2019t already have one, you can apply for a current account by downloading the Monzo app. You\u2019ll need to be at least 18 years old and have valid ID.<\/p><p>You can then apply for Monzo Flex on your phone by scanning the QR code on the website. Monzo runs a soft search to check your eligibility \u2013 a soft search won\u2019t affect your credit score. If you\u2019re happy to go ahead with your application in full, Monzo carries out a hard credit check, which leaves a mark on your credit file. <\/p><h3>Where can you use Monzo Flex?<\/h3><p>The Monzo Flex card can be used pretty much anywhere that accepts Mastercard, including when travelling abroad. No foreign transaction fees apply. <\/p><p>You can shop with your card in-store and online, and you can choose to use your physical Flex card or the virtual Flex card on your phone through Apple Pay or Google Pay. Sounds great, but it could equally be \u00a31,000. The limit you\u2019re offered will be tailored to your specific circumstances (taking into account factors like your income and credit history).<\/p><h4 id=\"Interest-free\">Interest-free 3-month payments<\/h4><p>Not an intro offer, but an ongoing 0% offer, Monzo charges no interest on purchases of \u00a3100 or more paid over 3 months. Ideal for bigger buys, you can split the payments over a 3-month period to avoid interest altogether, or spread them out over up to 24 months at 29% APR representative (variable).<\/p><h4 id=\"Section-75\">Section 75 protection<\/h4><p>Section 75 protection is available on eligible purchases from \u00a3100 all the way up to \u00a330,000. Meaning that the provider and retailer are liable for any issues, so if the product is faulty, not delivered or not as described, you can make a claim through Monzo.<\/p><h4 id=\"no-annual-fees\">No annual or monthly fees<\/h4><p>You won\u2019t incur any annual or monthly fees with the Monzo Flex Purchase credit card, just make sure to be aware of the interest that applies on longer plans, or if you miss a payment.<\/p><h4 id=\"App-based\">App based<\/h4><p>Monzo Flex Purchase is all managed through Monzo\u2019s app. Here you can easily edit your monthly payments (at no extra cost) and view your transactions, as well as break down your bill purchase by purchase.<\/p><h4 id=\"Early-repayments\">Early repayments<\/h4><p>Want to clear your debt earlier? No problem. Monzo Flex Purchase has no early repayment fees. Either pay off your normal monthly payment early, or pay off extra towards a purchase.<\/p><h4 id=\"Free-spending-abroad\">Free spending abroad<\/h4><p>You can avoid racking up fees on your spending abroad, as there are no fees when you travel. Monzo also passes on Mastercard\u2019s exchange rate, so you won\u2019t incur any extra fees or charges.<\/p><h4 id=\"Past-payments\">Flex on past payments<\/h4><p>Once you\u2019ve been approved for your Flex card, you can \u201cflex\u201d your current account spend. Tap on any transaction from the past 14 days, and Monzo will add the money back to your account and move the balance over to your credit card.<\/p><h4 id=\"payment-date\">Single payment date<\/h4><p>All payments that you\u2019ve \u201cflexed\u201d and you\u2019re entitled to repay are combined into a single, easy-to-manage payment that will come out of your Monzo account on the same day each month. You can also change this date twice every 6 months.<\/p><h4 id=\"Grace-period\">Grace period for missed payments<\/h4><p>If you miss a payment, Monzo will give you 7 days to catch up, after which you\u2019ll be moved to the longest monthly payment available, and you won\u2019t be able to switch back to interest-free. Sounds like a great perk, but remember that missing a payment will impact your credit score.<\/p><h4 id=\"credit-building\">Build credit<\/h4><p>Some BNPLs don\u2019t impact your credit score, but the Monzo Flex credit card does, as your transactions are reported to credit reference agencies. Therefore, making payments on time and staying within your credit limit can aid your credit score.<\/p><h4 id=\"Apple-Pay\">Compatible with Apple Pay<\/h4><p>You can use Flex to pay in-store with Apple Pay or Google Pay, anywhere they accept contactless. Just add it to your Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. You can pay in monthly chunks right at checkout!<\/p><h3>Repayments<\/h3><p>When you choose to split your repayments, Monzo shows you how much each payment will be and when it will be taken from your account. It also shows how much interest you\u2019ll be charged. <\/p><p>If you want to change your repayment plan and give yourself longer to repay the balance, you can easily edit your instalments in the app. On the other hand, if you want to make repayments early, you can also do this without being hit with a penalty fee. <\/p><p>If you miss a repayment, you won\u2019t be charged a fee, but Monzo gives you 7 days to make the payment. If you can\u2019t do this, you\u2019ll be moved to the longest plan available for each purchase. <\/p><p>As Monzo Flex is a form of credit, if you can\u2019t make your payments, missed payments are reported to the credit reference agencies, which could harm your credit score. As well as giving you the option of spreading your payments over 3, 6, 12 or 24 months, you\u2019ll also benefit from fee-free card purchases abroad and protection for eligible purchases over \u00a3100. <\/p><p>However, while splitting your payments over 3 months is interest-free, if you need longer to repay your balance, there could be cheaper options out there. A 0% purchase credit card, for example, enables you to spread the cost of your spending over several months interest-free and could be better if you\u2019ve got an expensive purchase coming
