If you\u2019re on the hunt for an app-based bank account that helps you save on fees while abroad, you might be weighing up the pros and cons of Revolut<\/a> and Chase.<\/p>

Revolut was established in 2015 and has become known for making it easy to exchange and send foreign currency. Chase, which is owned by global finance giant JPMorgan, launched in the UK in 2021 and its current account has proven popular for its perks such as cashback.<\/p>

With Revolut\u2019s free Standard account, you\u2019ll get a blue-ish, pink-ish payments card, while Chase\u2019s only (and also free) current account comes with a blue numberless debit card, with your details stored on the app so only you can see them.<\/p>

Neither provider has high-street branches (Chase only has branches in the US), but you can use your card to withdraw cash at ATMs. There\u2019s no overdraft available on either the Revolut or Chase account, and you won\u2019t earn interest on your balance either. However, both providers offer savings options. <\/p>

Both Revolut and Chase have UK banking licences. This means that your money will be protected by the the Financial Services Compensation Scheme<\/a> (FSCS), which covers deposits of up to \u00a3120,000 per person.<\/p>

Chase and Revolut were neck and neck in our independent 2026 Customer Satisfaction Awards<\/a>, with 97% of customers of each bank saying they would recommend it to a friend. <\/p>

Both Revolut and Chase mobile banking apps give you a visual breakdown of spending, but while Revolut will categorise your transactions and let you set spending limits, Chase won\u2019t.<\/p>

The 2 companies both offer a round-up service, where your purchases are rounded up to the nearest \u00a31 and then automatically saved for you. With Revolut, you can set up different savings Vaults to save for different goals and earn interest of up to 4.5%. Chase\u2019s round-up account pays a competitive interest rate of 5% AER. However, after a year, your money will be moved to your current account.<\/p>

One perk of using Revolut is that you can convert currency before you travel, which means you might be able to take advantage of favourable exchange rates. Chase doesn\u2019t offer a currency exchange service.<\/p>

Your salary can be paid into either your Revolut or Chase account and you can also set up direct debits. You can contact customer service teams through in-app chats and freeze and unfreeze your card. Revolut\u2019s app also enables you to send international payments, whereas Chase doesn\u2019t. <\/p>
