What is Bip Credit?<\/h3>

As the name suggests, cardless credit is a line of credit that you can access without having to use a physical card. Bip Credit claims to be the first to offer cardless credit in the UK.<\/p>

It\u2019s different in another way too: it doesn\u2019t charge fees and there\u2019s just one interest rate (credit cards typically charge different rates for different parts of your balance). In that respect, it\u2019s quite similar to the 118 118 Money credit card<\/a>.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>

How does Bip credit work?<\/h3>

Bip Credit operates much like a regular credit card provider, but instead of accessing your credit through an actual credit card, you use and manage your credit account entirely from your phone.<\/p>

When you apply, you\u2019ll be given a credit account with a variable interest rate that you can use in stores via Google Pay and Apple Pay or online using your 16-digit Bip number, expiry date and CVV.<\/p>

Bip promises to charge no hidden fees, such as annual account or foreign exchange fees, and you\u2019ll have the ability to set spending caps and get instant balance updates via the Bip app.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>

How do I buy things with Bip?<\/h4>

In stores<\/strong>, use Apple Pay or Google Pay on your phone. Online<\/strong>, use your 16-digit Bip number, expiry and CVV.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Can I withdraw cash using Bip Credit?<\/h3>

No. Although NewDay says it\u2019s looking at offering this feature, at the moment Bip is just about \u201cdigital purchases on the go\u201d.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>

What credit limit will I get with Bip Credit?<\/h3>

If Bip is able to offer you this deal, the offer will specify a personalised credit limit. The minimum limit offered is \u00a3250 (Bip doesn\u2019t specify a maximum). Once you\u2019ve had the card for a while and shown Bip that you\u2019re reliable, you may wish to apply for a credit limit increase. You can let Bip know that you\u2019re interested in getting a credit limit increase using the \u201cMy Account\u201d section of the app.<\/p>

Does Bip run a credit check?<\/h3>

Yes, although you can find out your chances of getting approved<\/a> using a \u201csoft search\u201d \u2013 which doesn\u2019t impact your credit score.<\/p>

Bip isn\u2019t expecting credit record perfection \u2013 this is a product that\u2019s targeted at people with damaged or limited credit scores.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Will Bip impact my credit score?<\/h3>

You can check your eligibility<\/a> without any impact on your credit score.<\/p>

Then, if you decide to go ahead and apply for Bip, NewDay (the cmpany behind Bip Credit) will run a \u201chard\u201d credit search, which will have a small (usually short-lived) negative impact on your credit score. This is standard stuff which is true of pretty much all UK credit cards.<\/p>

Once you\u2019re up and running and spending money using Bip, keeping up with your repayments will have a positive effect on your credit score<\/a>.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>

What interest rates does Bip charge?<\/h3>

Bip offers a variable \u201crepresentative\u201d rate (i.e. the maximum rate given to most people) of 34.9% or 49.9% APR. The exact rate you receive will depend on factors like your credit history, personal and financial circumstances, and the amount of credit you apply for.<\/p>

Does Bip charge any fees?<\/h3>

Bip Credit is part of NewDay Ltd, which is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority, and offers credit cards through a number of brands, including Aqua and Amazon. NewDay has been catering to those with less-than-perfect credit since 2002.<\/p>

There\u2019s no physical card to lose, and access to your account through the app is passcode-\/biometric-protected.<\/p>

Who can apply for Bip Credit?<\/h3>

Like all credit providers, you\u2019ll need to be at least 18 years old to apply for Bip Credit, and will also need to be a UK citizen or resident (with a UK bank account).<\/p>

If you\u2019ve received a county court judgement (CCJ) in the last year, you\u2019ll need to wait before you can apply. Likewise if you\u2019ve been bankrupt in the past 18 months.<\/p>

If you\u2019ve had a Bip, Aqua, marbles, opus or Fluid account in the last year, then, once again, you\u2019ll have to wait before you can apply.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
