What\u2019s more, the broker offers telematics insurance, which is growing in popularity among young drivers. It also offers up to 10% discount to customers that have previously taken out a learner driver insurance policy with Marmalade. Here\u2019s what else we think you should know.<\/p><h3 id=\"who_is_marmalade\">Who is Marmalade?<\/h3><p>Marmalade is a specialist insurance broker that offers car insurance to young drivers. It sources policies for learner drivers, young driver insurance on a family car, new driver insurance on a customer\u2019s own car and student driver insurance, which is available on a temporary basis.<\/p><h3>Who underwrites Marmalade\u2019s car insurance?<\/h3><p>Marmalade works with a panel of insurance companies to provide a range of insurance products for young people. Its learner driver and named young driver insurance policies are underwritten by Ageas Insurance Ltd. The new driver insurance policies are underwritten by Highway.<\/p><p>Marmalade is a trading style of Young Marmalade Ltd and Provisional Marmalade Ltd, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.<\/p><h3 id=\"what_are_marmalade_s_levels_of_cover\">What are Marmalade\u2019s levels of cover?<\/h3><p>Drivers in the UK are legally required to have at least <a href=\"https:\/\/www.finder.com\/uk\/car-insurance\/third-party-car-insurance\">third party cover<\/a> but Marmalade does not offer this minimum level of cover or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.finder.com\/uk\/car-insurance\/third-party-fire-theft\">third party, fire and theft.<\/a><\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.finder.com\/uk\/car-insurance\/comprehensive-car-insurance\">Comprehensive<\/a> is the highest and only level of cover available through Marmalade. If you\u2019ve caused an accident, you\u2019ll be covered for damage to third party vehicles or property. And it will offer protection against any fire damage to your car or theft of your car. You\u2019ll also be insured against accidental damage and any vandalism to your car.<\/p><h3 id=\"policies\">What are Marmalade\u2019s different policies?<\/h3><ul class=\"list-10\"><li>Learner driver car insurance.<\/li><li>Named young driver car insurance (on a car owned by a family member or friend).<\/li><li>New driver car insurance (on a car owned by the policyholder).<\/li><li>Student driver car insurance (temporary car insurance on a car owned by a family member or friend).<\/li><\/ul><h3 id=\"what_is_covered_under_my_policy\">What is covered under my policy?<\/h3><table class=\"luna-table luna-table--responsiveList\"><thead class=\"luna-table__header\"><tr><th scope=\"col\">Cover benefits<\/th><th scope=\"col\">Comprehensive<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody class=\"luna-table__body\"><tr><td data-title=\"Heading 1\">Liability to other people and property<\/td><td data-title=\"Heading 2\">Yes<\/td><\/tr><tr><td data-title=\"Heading 1\">Fire and theft<\/td><td data-title=\"Heading 2\">Yes<\/td><\/tr><tr><td data-title=\"Heading 1\">Accidental damage<\/td><td data-title=\"Heading 2\">Yes<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><p>Beyond the standard cover benefits above, any other benefits to your insurance policy will vary depending on the insurer that is able to provide the cover through Marmalade.<\/p><p>Check your policy details carefully to ensure you have the right cover for your needs.<\/p><h3 id=\"optional_extras\">Optional extras<\/h3><p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.finder.com\/uk\/car-insurance\/car-insurance-optional-extras\">optional extras<\/a> that may be available will depend on the insurer that is willing to offer car cover. Information about optional extras is not available on the Marmalade website.<\/p><h3 id=\"what_policy_exclusions_are_there\">What policy exclusions are there?<\/h3><p>Your cover through Marmalade is likely to become invalid if any of the following arises:<\/p><ul class=\"list-12\"><li>You fail to pay for your premium.<\/li><li>You change your car during the policy term to a car that the insurer cannot cover.<\/li><li>You do not provide the correct documents to support your application.<\/li><li>Your car is being driven by an unnamed driver on your policy or by a person that does not have a valid driving licence.<\/li><li>Your car is used for rallies, races or competitions.<\/li><li>You are paid to carry passengers.<\/li><\/ul><p>The insurer that offers you the policy through Marmalade may also have its own set of exclusions. Check your policy for further details to confirm your cover is valid at all times.<\/p><h3 id=\"how_do_i_make_a_claim\">How do I make a claim?<\/h3><p>Marmalade does not provide its claims line details on its website so if you need to make a claim, it recommends you refer to your policy document for the claims telephone number.<\/p><p>Once you have checked your policy document for details on how to make a claim, you\u2019ll need to have all your personal details and all the facts about the incident to hand. You may also need to provide any photographic evidence you have to support your claim.<\/p><p>It\u2019s important that you let your insurer know about an incident as soon as possible, even if it\u2019s not your fault. Failure to do this could result in a rejected claim.<\/p><h3 id=\"what_is_my_excess\">What is my excess?<\/h3><p>Your insurance <a href=\"https:\/\/www.finder.com\/uk\/car-insurance\/car-insurance-excess\">excess<\/a> is the amount of money you have agreed to pay towards a claim. Your insurer won\u2019t pay out for a claim that costs less than your excess.<br>A voluntary excess is normally an amount set by you when taking out a policy. As far as specialist young driver car insurance companies go, Marmalade is a very good option.<\/p><p>Marmalade actually made it into our list of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.finder.com\/uk\/car-insurance\/best-car-insurance\">top 10 car insurance companies in the UK<\/a> for customer satisfaction, but we felt that, being a specialist provider, we couldn\u2019t include it in the final list.
