State whether you want to quit immediately or on a future date.<\/li><li><strong>Refund.<\/strong> If you paid for your premium with one upfront payment you&#8217;ll get a partial refund, which will reimburse you for the time you haven&#8217;t had cover for.<\/li><li><strong>Administration charges. <\/strong>Admiral will deduct an administration fee from the money it gives back to you, to cover its costs for setting up and stopping your policy.<\/li><li><b>Outstanding premium. <\/b>If you have any outstanding premium you need to pay this off within 10 days.<\/li><li><strong>Made a claim. <\/strong>Bad news if you&#8217;ve made a claim or had one made against you. If you&#8217;re looking for cheaper car insurance or a different level of cover, then call Admiral and see how much it will cost to change your insurance policy.<\/li><li><strong>Fees.<\/strong> Whether you&#8217;re leaving within the first 14 days or after, you&#8217;re going to have to pay a fee to leave. How much will depend on the type of policy you have and whether you&#8217;re in the cooling off period. You might well decide to stay put if the cost of leaving is more than the refund.<\/li><li><strong>Have you made a claim.<\/strong> Admiral won&#8217;t give you any refund whatsoever if you&#8217;ve been involved in a claimable incident. So it&#8217;s worth weighing up if it&#8217;s worth cancelling your deal.<\/li><li><strong>Best time to switch.<\/strong> Generally about three weeks before your current deal is about to expire is the best time to look for a new quote. People who get insurance at the last minute are statistically seen as higher risks by insurance companies. This will help you find the best value policy out there.<\/li><li><strong>Go direct.<\/strong> Some insurance companies won&#8217;t put all their deals on comparison sites, so get a few quotes directly too.<\/li><li><strong>Starting a new policy immediately. <\/strong>If you want to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.finder.com\/uk\/car-insurance\/switch-car-insurance\">change car insurance provider<\/a> today or before your Admiral deal runs out, sign up for a new policy and contact Admiral that day and quit immediately. This will make sure you don&#8217;t double-up on car insurance.<\/li><li><strong>Delaying your new policy. <\/strong>If you&#8217;re happy to wait for your Admiral deal to run down then get in touch with it and say you don&#8217;t want it to automatically renew your current deal. It could well do otherwise.
