Cancelling your Churchill car insurance isn&#8217;t too difficult, however it often comes with a leaving fee.<\/p><p>We walk you through quitting, and look at reasons why it might be a good idea to quit \u2013 or indeed a bad one.<\/p><h3 id=\"howtocancel\">How to cancel your policy with Churchill<\/h3><ul class='nav nav-tabs pb-tabs'><li class=\"active\"><a href=\"#tab841\" data-toggle=\"tab\">Cancellation after 14 days<\/a><\/li><li class=\"\"><a href=\"#tab7794\" data-toggle=\"tab\">Cancellation within 14 days of cover<\/a><\/li><\/ul><div class=\"tab-content \"><div id=\"tab841\" class=\"tab-pane active \"><strong>Cancellation after 14 days<\/strong><\/p><ol><li>Call or send a letter to Churchill explaining that you want to cancel your policy. Specify whether you want to leave immediately or at a later date.<\/li><li>Churchill will refund you the part of your premium you haven&#8217;t used.<\/li><li>It will also take away an administration fee from the money it pays back, which is generally about \u00a350 for your main car insurance and about \u00a310 for breakdown cover.<\/li><li>However, if you have made a claim, or someone has made a claim against you, then you won&#8217;t get any money back unfortunately.<\/li><\/ol><\/div><div id=\"tab7794\" class=\"tab-pane \"><strong>Cancellation within 14 days of cover<\/strong><\/p><ol><li>Call or send a letter to Churchill and say that you want to cancel your insurance during the cooling off period. So within 14 days of the policy starting or receiving your documents (whichever occurs later.)<\/li><li>Churchill will then stop your policy and refund your premium, minus the days you&#8217;ve had cover for.<\/li><li>If you&#8217;ve made a claim or someone had made one against you during your short time with Churchill, then you won&#8217;t get a refund.<\/li><\/ol><\/div><\/div><div class=\"u-grid\"><div class=\"u-grid__col u-2\/3@s\"><h3 id=\"cancellingpolicy\">Things to consider before cancelling your policy with Churchill<\/h3><ul class=\"list-10\"><li><strong>Fees.<\/strong> You have to pay an administration fee to cancel Churchill early. This typically costs around \u00a350, so you need to weigh up whether this is worth paying.<\/li><li><strong>Refund. <\/strong>You need to do the maths and work out if the amount you&#8217;re getting refunded is more than the administration fee. If not, then it might be worth just running the deal down.<\/li><li><strong>Have you made a claim?<\/strong> Should you have been involved in an incident which led to a claim on your policy, either by you or someone else, then you won&#8217;t get a penny back from Churchill. It might just be worth sticking with Churchill until renewal time.<\/li><li><strong>Change existing policy. <\/strong>If you&#8217;re looking to adjust your level of cover or want a cheaper deal, then it&#8217;s worth asking Churchill how much it will cost to amend your policy. You&#8217;ll probably have to pay an administration fee but it might be cheaper than cancelling outright.<\/li><li><strong>Best time to switch.<\/strong> Three weeks before your Churchill deal is up is typically the best time to approach a new car insurance company about moving, as car insurance companies drive up prices for people who look last minute. If you&#8217;re in the final few days with Churchill it might be cheaper to just renew your existing deal. It&#8217;s crucial that you get your vehicle covered, even if it&#8217;s just going to be sitting parked in the street.<\/p><p>Yet, it&#8217;s also vital that you don&#8217;t overlap your two car insurance policies.
