36 million (69%) Brits plan to shell out this Easter
Those celebrating Easter will pay out \u00a330.14, this is a 24% increase from 2018
Easter spending is expected to increase by almost \u00a3330 million from last year<\/strong><\/p>

Brits are planning to spend around \u00a31.1 billion on chocolate, gifts and entertaining this Easter weekend, according to a new survey conducted by price comparison site, finder.com.<\/p>

This would be an \u00a3330 million increase on last year’s research by finder.com, when British consumers were estimated to have spent \u00a3755 million on Easter (excluding travel).<\/p>

Around 7 in 10 Brits (69%) plan to spend money celebrating Easter, a rise of 17% from those who spent money (59%) in 2018. A further 9% of Brits say they will celebrate Easter without spending any additional money, taking the total of those celebrating the weekend to 78%.<\/p>

The amount that consumers will spend is also set to increase this year. While the average amount spent in 2018 was \u00a324.41, those who plan to buy treats this time around say they will part with an average of \u00a330.14.<\/p>

Those aged 18\u201324 will be the most cost-aware. They plan to spend \u00a325.28 on average, compared to those aged 45\u201354 who propose to spend \u00a332.25, which is the highest amount.<\/p>

Women seem more likely to part with their cash this Easter, with nearly three quarters (73%) saying they are planning to do so, compared to 64% of men. However, on average men will shell out \u00a330.61, a slightly higher amount than the \u00a329.74 that women will fork out.<\/p>

The North East of England tops the Easter spending list \u2013 shoppers here plan to buy items worth \u00a344.97 on average, while those in the West Midlands are set to be the lowest spenders with an average of \u00a325.57.<\/p>

Commenting on the findings, Jon Ostler, CEO (UK) at finder.com said, “It’s easy to miss your budget over the Easter weekend, what with the high markup on Easter eggs, seasonal temptations and gifts. However, it doesn’t have to be an expensive weekend. Shopping around for the best deals, using discount codes and making your own treats are great ways to save money.”<\/p>

Methodology<\/strong>
Finder.com commissioned Onepoll to carry out a nationally representative survey of adults aged 18+.
A total of 2,000 people were questioned throughout Great Britain, with representative quotas for gender, age and region.
