Unbelievable hotels: Huilo Huilo Montana Magica Lodge

Posted: 7 September 2017 8:53 am

A real-life fairytale, surrounded by the natural beauty of a secluded forest.

Hotel name: Huilo Huilo Montana Magica Lodge AKA Magic Mountain Hotel

Where: In the private Huilo-Huilo Biological Reserve in the Patagonian rainforest in Panguipulli, Chile

What’s unique about this property: This incredible hotel is an exclusive stay with only 13 rooms. It was originally a place where friends and family would stay to hunt and fish on the reserve. Today it’s a magical getaway. It was named after a book the owners loved called Magic Mountain, in which a mountain had special powers and could grant wishes.

Although the hotel can’t grant wishes it does show the power and magic of mother nature as, located between the Southern Andes, the mountain on which is stands is actually a volcano. The most impressive part is the waterfall that runs down the side from the peak past your room window.

What is there to do in the area: Despite its seclusion, there’s no shortage of tours and excursions available. This includes horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, trekking, ziplining, kayaking and sailing.

From July to September snow activities can be enjoyed. If your holiday is more about relaxation, you can visit the spa, brewery, take a ferry across Pirehueico Lake or enjoy the mountain views from the cablecar.

What do other people say (review summary):

TripAdvisor users rave about this unique hotel, calling it a “one of a kind lodge off the beaten path”.

It was most popular amongst families and couples who said it was a “fabulous hotel” and a “great place to stay”.

Though most reviews claim that it is expensive they also mention their surprise at the size of the resort and encourage others to go on the excursions as they are “incredible and not to be missed”.
