We take a look at hotels that have just opened, hotels that are in the works and major hotel changes across the globe.


Just opened: DoubleTree by Hilton Istanbul Topkapi, Istanbul

A New DoubleTree by Hilton opened last week on the European side of Istanbul. It spans 18 floors and is ideally located in the Topkapi area close to historic attractions.

Many of the rooms include panoramic views of the city, the Marmara Sea and the Princess Islands.

The hotel boasts an on-site spa, restaurants, indoor pool and fitness centre.

Just opened: Hyatt Regency Lucknow, Lucknow, India

The opening of the Hyatt Regency Lucknow marks the 27th Hyatt branded property in India and the first in Lucknow, the capital of the northern state Uttar Pradesh.

The hotel features 206 rooms and suites that are bright and spacious. Amenities include complimentary breakfast and on-site restaurants that focus on international cuisine with more to open later this year.

A spa, pool, fitness centre and event venues that cater to weddings and meeting rooms are also available.


Just opened: ibis Styles New York LaGuardia Airport, New York City

Ibis Styles New York LaGuardia takes over the former LaGuardia Airport hotel as the first ibis Styles in the country.

The hotel features 93 rooms with a design packed with colour and inspired by the New York City subway. Street-style snacks are served at the Metrocard lounge.

Prices include breakfast at the on-site bistro style restaurant. A bar is also available on-site.


Opening soon: FV by Peppers, Brisbane

Located in the bustling entertainment neighbourhood of Fortitude Valley, FV by Peppers is the latest new hotel in Brisbane.

One and two bedroom apartments have been created for short term stays with luxurious amenities that include a skyline pool, moonlight cinema, gym, yoga retreat and more.

The building takes after a modern New York skyscraper and uses sustainable building practices.

Opening soon: Radisson Blu Resort Phu Quoc, Phu Quoc, Vietnam

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has announced the opening of its first Vietnam property in Phu Quoc. Launching late this year, it is set to be a major focal point in the area. A second property is also set to open in 2018.

The resort will boast 522 rooms and be situated on the stunning white sand Bai Dai beach.

An on-site restaurant serving international cuisine, spa, fitness centre, outdoor swimming and casino will be available.

The new hotel is only part of a larger resort which features a convention centre, safari, golf course, water theme park, shopping and restaurants.

Opening soon: Adina Apartment Hotel Pentridge, Melbourne

Melbourne is about to get a unique hotel that offers guests the chance to stay in an historic converted prison.

The hotel will comprise of 120 rooms and studios, each featuring a modern design with lashings of the building’s original details.

Despite its history, the hotel will offer a boutique, high-quality stay with amenities that include an indoor pool, restaurant, conference and meeting facilities, a gym and spa.
