What types of mortgages can I get with BuildLoan?

  • Fixed rate
  • Your interest rate is fixed for a set amount of time. After the fixed-rate period ends, you’re switched onto the lender’s standard variable rate (SVR).

  • Tracker
  • The interest rate shifts up and down in line with the Bank of England base rate.

  • Discounted rate
  • Your interest rate will remain a specific percentage below the lender’s SVR for a set amount of time. After the discount period ends, you’ll be switched onto the SVR.

  • Variable rate
  • You’ll pay the lender’s standard variable rate throughout the term of the mortgage, which may shift up and down based on various economic conditions.

How to apply

You can only apply for a Buildloan mortgage via a mortgage broker.

What information do I need to provide?

You’ll need to provide proof of identifcation, proof of address, your last three months of bank statements, your latest P60, your last three months of bank statements, your last three months of payslips (or three years of accounts if self-employed).

You’ll need to provide proof of Outline Planning Permission to be granted the mortgage. Detailed Planning Permission will also be required before further funds are released towards the build of the property.

Eligibility criteria

Buildloan only lends towards the completion of self-build projects in England and Wales. The applicant(s) must be at least 18 years old when applying and no older than 70 when the mortgage term is due to end. All approvals are subject to an affordability assessment.
