Wide selection of flexible mobile plans
No 5G data options

Lycamobile began life as a cheap and cheerful pay-as-you-go SIM card provider in 2005. The British company has grown massively and now offers SIM-only plans and PAYG deals in over 60 countries around the world.

While it does not operate its own mobile network, it “piggybacks” onto a major network in each country where it operates. At the time of writing, Lycamobile in the UK uses the O2 network.

The firm offers a variety of SIM-only bundles, some of which include decent value international calling minutes.

Pros and cons of Lycamobile

  • Wide selection of flexible mobile plans. Lycamobile offers a wide choice of SIM-only and PAYG plans with flexible time commitments, starting at 30 days for a call and data bundle.
  • Great customer service scores. Lycamobile appears to be well-liked by customers, judging from online reviews.
  • No 5G data options. Unlike larger rivals, Lycamobile doesn’t sell mobile plans with 5G data capabilities.

Our verdict: Is Lycamobile any good?

Lycamobile is a great option for those looking to grab a competitive, flexible mobile plan. A large proportion of its call, text and data packages is sold on a 30-day rolling basis, so you’ll never be tied into a contract.

The brand also specialises in offering plans that include reasonably priced international calls as part of the package. They’re great if you’re looking for a simple way to keep in touch with friends and family abroad, while on the go.

Customers can get started by ordering a free Lycamobile SIM from the provider’s website, or by buying a SIM card and call plan from a wide range of supermarkets, newsagents and street vendors.Ready to compare mobile plans?

I’m interested in your £1.50pm sim only deal as I don’t want to use any data but how do I keep the number I already have?

      Hi Eric,

Thanks for getting in touch. I hope all is well with you. 😃

Just a quick note Eric, you have reached Finder, a comparison website. We don’t represent Lycamobile. With that being said, you can keep your number even after switching to a new provider. What you need to do is get in touch with your current provider and request a Porting Authorisation Code (PAC). This is a numerical code that you must then give to your new provider. Please note that the PAC is only valid for 30 days.

I hope this helps. Should you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach us out again.

      Have a wonderful day!

      Hello Michael,

      Thank you for your comment.

You can absolutely order a Lycamobile sim plan over the internet using a debit card, preferably Visa and Mastercard. Just visit the website of Lycamobile and select the plan, then click Buy Now and proceed to check out. I hope this helps.

I am going for 22 days to PERU, BOLIVIA, ARGENTINA & BRAZIL and want a Data Pack mainly, though some calls to and from uk would be useful but not essential. Can you recommend a suitable provider and alternatives.
    Thank you.
