  2. Ruta de los Pueblos Blancos. This route is another good one for drivers, taking you through the ‘white towns’ of southern Spain. 19 different villages lie along the route, located within the provinces of Malaga and Cádiz.
  3. Granada. Roughly an hour and a half from Malaga is Granada, the capital of the province of Andulsia. Granada is also home to the stunning Alhambra palace, another must see if you’re in the area! You can also pick a coastal route for even more scenery.

Other things to remember out for if you’re hiring a car in Malaga

  • Key documentation. This includes driving license (yep, people forget that), DVLA Code, payment cards, and any other important paperwork you’ll need.
  • Compare the competition. Malaga car hire companies are extremely competitive. There are 20 car rental companies based in the city at the time of writing, so make sure you scope out the best deal for you.
  • Book in advance. This will help you find the best deal, with some people paying nearly double by booking on the day of arrival.
  • Check the car for any damage. Last thing you need is to be charged for a scratch or dent that was there before you drove it!
  • Air-con! It’s pretty hot in Málaga in the summer months so make sure you’ve got air-conditioning, or you’ll be in for a pretty unpleasant journey.
