Welcome to the Finder Retail Awards 2022: Best Big Kitchen Appliance Brand
The kitchen is the hub of the house, with plenty of appliances to make our lives just that little bit easier. Think about the countless hours saved because of our washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers. Oh, and the lifesavers that are fridge-freezers to keep those fish fingers on ice.
There are many brands of large kitchen appliance available, so we think it’s important you get the opinion of the people who matter most: the customers who’ve used the products. We asked customers of the major big kitchen appliance brands to tell us about their experiences. Now we can reveal how they rated them.
Our awards are designed to find big kitchen appliance brands that excel in 5 categories: value for money, reliability, performance, customer satisfaction and whether they’re worth a recommendation to a friend. The winners had the highest average scores on all these categories combined. Let’s reveal them!

Best Big Kitchen Appliance Brand Joint Winner:
Siemens
Siemens nabbed joint top spot in front of 13 other brands. The German manufacturer received 4.5 stars out of 5 as an overall customer score, and 90% of users would recommend the brand to a friend.
Siemens dates back to the mid 19th century, when its co-founders were in the telegraph business. It was only in the 1950s that Siemens began manufacturing washing machines, amongst other things like pacemakers and computers. Now its range of domestic appliances stretches to fridge-freezers, dishwashers, tumble dryers, ovens and more.

Best Big Kitchen Appliance Brand Joint Winner:
Neff
Neff also washed away the competition and claimed joint top spot. Like Siemens, this German manufacturer scored 4.5 stars out of 5 in terms of overall customers score, and 90% of customers would recommend its products to a friend.
Neff started out as a small family company in Germany in the late 19th century. In 1914 the company made its first gas oven and by the 1950s it had developed its product to include different colours. Now, Neff makes a wide range of large appliances and is known for its integrated products like dishwashers, ovens and built-in fridge-freezers.

Customer star ratings methodology
In June 2022, we ran a customer survey on well-known big kitchen appliance brands. 1,315 people responded and gave us their opinion on dishwashers, fridges, freezers, fridge-freezers, tumble dryers, washing machines and washer-dryers, which they had purchased in the last 2 years.
The survey asked respondents about their experience with the product they owned and used. They were asked if they found their big kitchen appliance to be value for money, it it was reliable, if it performed well and if they were satisfied with their overall experience of it (using a 1–5 rating). They were also asked if they would recommend the brand to a friend.
We converted the responses into overall customer score star ratings and used these results to decide our award winners. Where there was a draw in terms of star ratings, we used the recommendation score (the percentage of customers who said they would recommend the brand to a friend) as a tie-breaker.
Full details of how we calculated star ratings for this sector are on our methodology for retail brand customer ratings page.
