What is C19 Testing?

C19 Testing is made up of a group of frontline doctors who “strongly believe in responsible medical testing”. Its aim, as stated on its website, is to help people through transparent and evidence-based information and access to affordable medical testing.

It states its guiding principles as:

  • Indication. It will give clear information on who a test is recommended for and why it is recommended.
  • Evidence. All the tests it offers are routinely used by doctors in the UK and have appropriate regulatory approval.
  • Necessity. It will never recommend that tests are performed more often than is necessary.
  • Quality. It only partners with laboratories that are accredited and regulated for tests they perform.
  • Interpretation. It will always provide the information you need to interpret your results and take appropriate action.

C19 Testing’s name appears on the government’s list of COVID test providers, meaning it meets the minimum safety requirements and it says it helps over 80,000 people a week with their travel materials.

What types of COVID-19 tests can I get from C19 Testing?

C19 Testing offers rapid antigen travel tests for both UK departures and arrivals, fit to fly PCR tests, day 2 and day 8 tests, test to release and antibody tests. It has 2 different types of antibody tests, one to check for previous infection and one to test vaccination response.

If you cancel your order before it’s dispatched, you’ll get a full refund. Once it’s been sent, you have 14 days to cancel, and there’ll be a charge taken from your refund to cover the postage. C19 Testing customer reviews

Based on over 14,500 Trustpilot reviews, C19 Testing has an average score of 4.9 out of 5 (updated October 2021), which is the highest we’ve seen so far among government-listed test providers. Customers rave about the speed and reliability of the service that it is providing, along with easy-to-follow instructions and fair pricing. On site, we’ve had positive reviews praising the service and its efficiency, but one felt the day 2 price was a bit high.

Looking for a negative review took some time, but it was important to find at least one example in the interest of balance. One customer had trouble getting in touch over the phone after a confirmation email never arrived. On the whole, positive reviews far outweigh negative ones.

Are C19 Testing tests accurate?

C19 Testing says its self-sample tests have a 99.8% success rate.

It’s also on the government’s list of COVID test providers, so meets the minimum safety requirements necessary.

How long does it take to get results from C19 Testing?

The PCR at-home test to release has next-day delivery of the kit (if ordered by 2pm) and guarantees a result in less than 24 hours. Rapid antigen self-test results come back within 12 hours and PCR fit to fly turnaround is within 24 hours from the sample being received. Day 2 and day 8 test results are slightly slower and expected to be back between 48-72 hours.

How much do C19 Testing tests cost?

C19 Testing’s at-home PCR tests start from £89, and the outbound PCR even comes with a free rapid antigen test for when you return to the UK. A rapid antigen self-test costs £29. Day 2 or day 8 tests cost £89 each or £169 in a package deal (we’ve done the maths and you do save a little!).

Pros and cons of C19 Testing

  • Travel test date calculator on site
  • Royal mail tracking
  • Government-listed COVID test provider
  • Excellent reviews on Trustpilot
  • Free rapid antigen test with fit to fly PCR

  • On the expensive side, compared to other providers
  • Slow day 2 and day 8 test results

Our verdict: Is C19 Testing any good?

It’s hard to ignore the customer reviews – they’re incredibly impressive and almost seem too good to be true. The website talks a big talk and the service seems to live up to the high standards it sets out to achieve.

The UK’s highest-rated COVID test provider is on the expensive side, but you’re paying for a reliable service with accurate results and quick turnaround times. It’s got all the makings of being a positive experience, and arising problems seem to be in the minority. Overall, it seems like a safe bet.
