BAT is the token for a blockchain-based digital advertising platform that rewards users for their attention. BAT is a central component of the Brave browser ecosystem. The Brave browser was launched in 2016 with the intent of creating this reward system for online users, advertisers and publishers. Using BAT as the reward mechanism, the project aims to eliminate common problems associated with privacy and security in the online browsing space. BAT was introduced as the token for the Brave browser ecosystem in 2018.
