If you’ve never had a credit card before, or you have a poor credit record, the aqua Start card could help you to build or rebuild a positive credit history.

It has the highest APR and the lowest credit limit out of all of aqua’s credit cards, but it also has the most lenient application process. For these reasons it’s perhaps best treated as a “stepping stone” product to cards or loans with a better interest rate.

However, provided you clear your balance in full each month you’ll be able to take advantage of up to 48 days of 0% interest on your purchases, meaning the card’s high APR needn’t necessarily cause you financial pain.

How does this card compare with other credit-builder cards?

Repayment options

When it comes to repayments, you can make manual repayments online or over the phone (0333 220 2691), or alternatively set up a direct debit. A direct debit is a great idea because it protects you from forgetting to make a repayment and either damaging your credit score, getting hit with a penalty fee or losing any promotional rates as a result. You can arrange a direct debit for repayments when you apply for the credit card. The table below shows the options available.
