U.S. holiday shipping deadlines for 2017

Peter Terlato 4 December 2017 NEWS

Time is fast running out to ensure your specially selected Christmas gifts end up under the tree this year.

Americans spent many painstaking hours battling in-store crowds and shopping a slew of online sales over Black Friday and Cyber Monday to find the perfect Christmas gifts. However, if these presents aren’t posted soon, they may not be delivered in time.

To ensure gifts arrive in a timely fashion, the United States Postal Service has revealed the recommended send-by dates for domestic packages expecting to be delivered by December 25.

However, the U.S. Postal Service warns that it can’t guarantee arrivals and that actual delivery dates may vary and specific delivery is based on origin, destination, post office acceptance times and other conditions.

The U.S. Postal Service also offers a money-back guarantee on the postage paid on correctly addressed shipments that are not delivered by the specified time. The guarantee does not apply to shipments to P.O. Box addresses. For Priority Mail Express shipments mailed December 22 through December 25, the guarantee applies only if the shipment was not delivered or delivery was not attempted within two business days.

If your gifts are destined for friends and family overseas, the table below specifies country send-by dates.
