The best-performing companies today were Novavax Inc. (NVAX, up 11.8%) and Quantumscape Corporation(QS, up 11.6%).
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rallied Thursday, gaining 506.50 to close the session at 34,764.82 and the Nasdaq rose 155.40 to settle at 15,052.24. The S&P 500 climbed 53.34 to end at 4,448.98.

Novavax Inc (NVAX) was the top gainer today.
Shares in the company rose 11.8% to $259.39.
“Novavax is riding high today on news that it submitted its COVID-19 vaccine to the World Health Organization for emergency use,” said Sheri Bechtel, editor for Finder’s US share trading and investing team. “Shares backed off in after-hours action, so it would be wise to keep an eye on this one before diving in. It seems to be very reactive right now.”

In second spot for market gains was Quantumscape Corp (QS), an NYSE company.
It rose 11.6% to reach $26.35.
