The best performing companies in trading today were Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc (TMO, up 8.3%) and Grifols S.A. ADRs (GRFS, up 6.2%).

Overall, the market finished down for the week after a rough Friday. The Dow lost 171 points on the day, about a half percent, and lost 0.8% on the week. The Nasdaq dropped about 1% on the day but just half that for the week.

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc (TMO) was the largest gainer today.

Shares in the company rose 8.3% to $606.96.

The stock jumped after a very strong forecast for the year that defied expectations.

The second-best mover was Grifols S.A. ADRs (GRFS), the NASDAQ company. It rose 6.2% to reach $15.34 after announcing an acquisition that expands its reach into plasma therapies.
