The best performing companies in trading today were Exact Sciences Corp (EXAS, up 7.0%) and Eog Resources Inc (EOG, up 6.5%).

The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 236.82 to finish the session at 34,814.89 and the Nasdaq rose 133.77 to 15,161.53. The S&P 500 index edged up 37.65 to 4,480.70.

Exact Sciences Corp (EXAS) was the largest gainer today.

Shares in the company rose 7% to $103.89.
