Today’s top US stocks: Global Payments Inc (GPN ↑5.8%), General Mills Inc (GIS ↑4.5%)
The best performing companies today were Global Payments Inc (GPN, up 5.8%) and General Mills Inc (GIS, up 4.5%).
The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 68.93 to close at 35,031.07 and the Nasdaq fell 87.69 to 15,286.64. The S&P 500 slid 5.96 to 4,514.07.

Global Payments Inc. (GPN) was the top gainer today.
Shares in the company rose 5.8% to $167.85.
“Global Payments saw its stock climb today on word that it plans to acquire SaaS company MineralTree in a $500 million deal,” said Sheri Bechtel, editor for Finder’s US share trading and investing team.

Second place for market gainers went to General Mills Inc (GIS), which trades on the NYSE.
It rose 4.5% to reach $59.33.
“The Big G, the ubiquitous maker of such household names as Cheerios and Pillsbury goodies, watched its stock take off today after it revised its 2022 fiscal year outlook, saying its net sales and adjusted earnings should be at the higher end of previous estimates,” said Bechtel. “We’re neck-deep in earnings season, so we’re seeing a lot of volatility around headlines. This seems to be an example of that type of climb.”
